    Default Epirus and Macedonia

Well, these two factions are similar in many ways. At the moment, I want to reforge the Alexandrian empire and will either take Epeiros or Macedonia. But I can't decide which of them I should use. All in all, I like Macedonia more than Epeiros, but Epeiros has Pyrrhos, a cousin of Alexander the Great. And these "the last descendant of Alexander" atmosphere is great.
I know this thread: http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showth...EB-Governments and according to this, Macedonia is better to recreate Alexanders empire because it can build type 2 governments everywhere in the Hellenistic world.

I had to make the same choice. Macedonia has reformed phalanxes and heavier cav. Epirus has elephants and slightly less heavy but faster cavalry. Aside from that they are pretty identical.

Makedonia has a better AOR for pikemen. Eperios isn't restricted by waiting for the March of Time, so you can take Italy at any time. That's about it, besides everything already mentioned.

Any site which shows AORs for different factions and units?

I prefer Molossan Agema to other heavy cavalry (fantastic stamina) - very small recruitment area though. Also, Elephants! So fun!

The downside to Epirus is that, in my opinion, their government types suck. Administratively & in terms of supply lines, Epirus is a lot harder to manage than Macedon.

In roleplay terms, I think it comes down to this: Epirus is the better choice for a Hellenic Alexandrian revival (royal blood ties, closer loyalty to the homeland, need to send troops to the front from Hellas), whereas Macedon is the better choice for a Hellenistic recreation of Alexander's empire (better at using locals, rather than native Hellenes, for administration and army service) and their royal line is more clearly a successor line, rather than traced to the old royalty of Macedonia.

Epirus is a better choice to repeat Alexander's conquests. Macedon is a better choice to implement Alexander's (reported) governmental ideals.
