Default What does violence for priests do?

While it's fairly easy to guess what a priest's score in other attributes does, I could never guess what the violennce attribute determines, but if I had to fathom a guess I would say it had something to do with denouncing heretics. I would like to hear the answer from those who know for sure.

I would guess, that if a priest becomes pope, he may be more inclined to call crusades, attack other factions, excommunicate for small offences, or other violent sort of actions. I could be wrong, just a guess but seems to make sense to me. Of course I could be giving the AI too much credit.

I agree with Jared Sinn but I want to add that maybe it causes the chance to denounce heretics will go up.

No it's just the odds of accepting a crusade.

And does anyone know what purity does for priests? Does it make them harder to bribe when they become pope?
80% of the people on forums have things in their signature they ask you to copy. If you're sick and tired of this, copy this in your sig
Fun things to do in Total war:
    1. Trample peasants to death with elephants (optionally with culverins)
    2. Burn peasants with greek fire
    3. Bombard peasants with mangonels
    4. Burn peasants with fire-arrows

    Yes, I like my peasants...
    Fried!!!

More importantly what dark deeds transpire when a priest has a choir boy........

Just a guess, I'm assuming Purity decreased chance of losing your priest to a witch, and Orthodoxy decreases the chance of losing him to a Heretic.

Speaking of which, has anyone seen a witch in the campaign yet? I had to modify desc_strat to finally see one.

You guys haven't seen witches? Consider yourselves lucky. My campaign is infested with witches at the moment, I have around 70 provinces, and 70 priests with around 200 watchtowers just to spot witches. They're driving me mad.

I guess it's because in my games there are usually half a million inquisitors and high peity priests running around. Most witches start with low magic in my games and are eliminated a turn after they show up.

Any hotspots for witches?? I'm always getting em popping up around Bran and E Europe. Dont recall too many in W Europe.

Violence for priests? makes em harder to bump off?
