    Default Cav getting owned

Okay, so I've been playing multiplayer for some... 5 days now and it's been going pretty good, I had a few victories and a lot more defeats, but meh, I'm not that good anyway.

So uhh, I play someone today and send off some cav to stop his cav just to slow em down while my spears could come, and I look a few moments later and the units have less then ten men each and are routing.

So, just wondering, what I did wrong? why were my cav decimated? I forgot to save the replay, sorry... The odds in the cav battle should have been fairly even, maybe a bit in his favour...

Did his cav happen to "push through" yours?

You just experienced your first "push through raping"!

Wont be the last time either, unless you only play people you know to have some ing standards!

Is "push through" just calvary running through the unit causing them to route because they are surrounded?

I dunno why they would rout, the cav that runs through does not use their swords/maces in the process, it is just quite retarded.

Ahh, I see... So, this "push trough" allows other cav to pwn my cav, even if I get them surrounded? That sucks, but meh. Guess that's what I get for getting into an early period game so I didn't have Aventuros or Musketeers. Now I know why he didn't want to tell me how'd he do it.

I hope most people don't use it, because it sounds somewhat unfair...

    Well, thanks for the info!

Alot of clan players know it (so if they join ur game, include "no cav bug" in your rules, they will know what you are talking about), most other public players have no idea what it is so it's not too bad.

Oi......either put no bug rules or the host should say before hand that cav bug is allow otherwise its a cav slaughter fest
The other possibilities is that if your cav was just running or walking without charging, the opponent charge could plow through your cav. i.e their cav charging animation persist and they receive charging bonus...in which case, its a valid move
A cav move is only consider a cav bug if their cav take out their sword or secondary weapon first

    replay solves everything

Cavalry are basically the key to winning Med 2 games. You need to be aware of whats happening to them at all times and focus most of your micro on them while the infantry are busy hacking away at each other.

Yea the push through bug has always been a bugger. Cavalry with maces are somewhat ideal for it.

I'm not going to answer that for fear of spreading its technique even further; therefore resulting in even more people using it.

Agreed, the bug is bad enough as it is, we don't need more people finding out about it.

The cav bug is just in MTW2, or could it be in other TW games? I think I've seen someone in Rome and Empire do something like that to my cavalry.

In RTW, you can perform raised lance and still consider a valid move...I assumed it because in RTW cav isn't as dangerous

Thats the reason I stopped playing M2tw: seeing super heavy cavalry charging and withdrawing without casualties even when it didn't rout the enemy unit. Its a cavalry clickfest.

while I do share your sentiment ^^;.....the things we discuss are cav push maneuver....charging and withdrawing isn't cav push

Cav is indeed overpowered..but thats fits the medieval period where cav is dominant and the importance on later development of pike-armed units

Thats is also why we have standard 6/2 rules...or if u want make your own game to limit the number of cav units

Well charging and immediately clicking behind the enemy unit keeps slaying them while withdrawing your cavalry from combat.

I don't have problems with cavalry charge being devastating or cavalry being overpowered, I have problems with cavalry (especially heavy), leaving combat without casualties without fighting at all. I have problems with cavalry charging other units while in combat and thus immedietely disengaging without casualties even when charged.
Here is another bug, have loads of infantry move through enemy infantry units by repeatedely double clicking behind them to see them fight A LOT BETTER even if they receive casualties as well- noit to mention they can pass through pikewalls as well.

one thing, any push through enemy units no matter is it a cav or inf is call by clan players bug, so if in rules some1 post no bug that means no push through inf and cav... 2nd is that if ur cav left field without casualties that means enemy atack ur cav with inf and with cav just send peasants to help ur cav fighting and u will see it works.

That's why I like no rules games on Grassy Plain: Poor guys think they can get away with getting a few units of arty and bringing less cav. I just bring 8 units of Kataprachtoi and some weak infantry. =P
