RTW crashes after 1.2 patch?

Hi guys I am new here and sorry if this is in the wrong forum or if this has already been solved in another thread, my apologies, I am a noob.

Anyway, as you probably read by the title, I keep having trouble installing the 1.2 patch, from my 1.0 regular edition of RTW. What happens is that when I start RTW, it will stay at the opening credits and then will crash after about 10 seconds of loading. No error screen, or anything. Just kaboom, crash. Then I have to un/reinstall the whole game because it will not work with the 1.2 patch.

Could anyone have an idea what could've happened/what is wrong with my RTW?

Did the original game start a campaign before you applied the patch?

For error messages if any, - Always, always, always have -show_err in your shortcut's target line!!!

Yes, it had done campaigns and battles and worked perfectly, and had never crashed on me. Also, I have not put in -show_err on any of them, because I am a noob and my normal 1.0 shortcut doesn't say it either, but still runs perfect. If there is any guide or FAQ to all of this, please let me know. Sorry, i'm not usually this bad.

If 1.0 worked perfectly, then it's bad download/install. Where did you download the patch from?

As far as the - show_err, right-click the RTW icon, click preferences, go down to target, and at the right end of it, add -show_err, save and back in business.

It's always best to have the -show_err switch on as it can trap error messages.
