Default Is there a way to modify the Terrain

I don't like what they have done with the terrain for some reason there are always hills or mountains
or cliffs. And I mean the terrain in Europe? I feel that the old terrain from the Vanilla was much more fun to play with. Even when I fight an army inside a forest region. Its just shows Hill and plains? I feel they did not do a good job at this. Too much hills and valleys and stuff like that. Is there a way to modify the terrain to have it more like the original???

Yes. Install a copy of RTW Vanilla somewhere and copy the terrain file in your RTW>Data folder. Paste this folder over the same folder in your Roma Surrectum>Data directory.

This will leave the modified vegetation, but put the terrain back to normal.

(I currently don't have the game installed so apologies if the instructions aren't completely accurate, but you get the idea).

I'd like to know where in Europe you find table top flat terrain? Anyways if you look in your data folder you'll see two descr_geography.db files (one ends with .RTW). Rename descr_geography.db to descr_geography.db.new and then rename descr_geography.db.RTW to descr_geography.db.

As a note the information on how to do this in the installation instructions please read those next time.

Couldn't have put it better myself. It's hardly realistic having empty, flat fields all over the place- and realism is something Roma Surrectum is about.

A mix between RS1.6 and Vanilla terrain would be good.

I don't know about the rest of you but I never seen a place that looks like a super magnified piece of paper.

I'd say 1.6a is reasonably accurate. I live at the edge of the great plains and I can tell you that the flat prairies resemble more what you see in rs1.6a than anything from vanilla.

Taelok, your instructions would do a bit of damage, I'm afraid. Squid's instructions are correct. Changing only the one file will result in a much flatter, albeit, boring and unimaginatively 'golf course' looking terrain.
