Silly R:TW issue: "Out of Range" and no graphics

Hi!

Until fairly recently, I was playing R: TW and BI without any issues at all on my Win7 computer. However, something must have happened. It may have been a DirectX update, or nVidia drivers. I have a GeForce 9800 GT card.

When I start the game in any way, the screen goes blank/black and I get an out of range message from my monitor. While I am aware that this may happen if I try to go beyond the 1600 x 1050 px resolution, I am 100 % certain I have not changed it to some unsupported resolution.

The preferences.txt says this:

STRATEGY_RESOLUTION:1600x1000
STRATEGY_MAX_RESOLUTION:2048x1536
STRATEGY_32_BIT:TRUE
BATTLE_RESOLUTION:1024x768
BATTLE_MAX_RESOLUTION:2048x1536
BATTLE_32_BIT:TRUE

What have I done wrong?

Try deleting the preferences.txt and let the game generate a new one.
