This is vid sample. Sound is pretty strange, as if it was recorded via external mic. No compression used, raw movie sounds same way.

"Win 7 sound" in fraps was checked.

    OS: win7 x64
    Fraps: 3.1.2
    Sound card: Supreme FX II

    Any suggestions?

Do you mean the musket shots etc? They sound odd yes, no mods recently installed that might have a new sound pack or something?

Those sound like my musket mod. DiggyPop muskets. You either have my mod installed or another sound mod that uses my musket sounds. What, you don't like realistic sounding muskets?

They were taken from actually recordings of muskets being fired.

They are and it's not about them. Sound quality in total is crappy - strange echoes, loud ambience volume and so on.

Try rebooting your PC. This often solves strange graphical and sound issues for me. If that doesn't work, look at the sound option menu and try different sound settings (like 5.1, stereo, etc.)

Check your device manager. If you are running with an ATI vidcard, ATI will often add a second sound device, on top of your main one, causing all sorts of odd things to happen. If there are two, disable the ATI one, and try recording again.

I had a problem like this before. Do you have your speakers turned off while recording? If not that's your problem, the speakers are playing back through your mic. Try using headphones while recording and let me know if that helps.
