Their steps are not simultanous. It looks rather undisciplined.

What hes trying to say is he wants his troops to do a boner-rific parade while he plays Hell March 1 on the background.

Well, at least legionaries and elite pikes were disciplined enough to march in lock-step. Is there a way to change that?

pikes? maybe, don't know about them...

Legionarries where especially trained NOT to march like that, because that way of marching destroyed roads or bridges or something like that... There was a bridge in britain swaying from side to side because people where marching in sync a couple of years ago.. That was it I think

I don't think there is a way to change it...

That thing with the bridge was tested by "Mythbusters" and they came to the conclusion it's bs
    as far as i remember.

There's no evidence by facts that this has happened ever due to lockstep.

There was a bridge at Angers where 485 french soldiers have marched in lockstep and the bridge
collapsed but latest investigations say that it happened rather due to the total weight of the soldiers
    than to resonance.

But to be honest even modern military doctrines believing the myth and so you can find a rule
not to march in lockstep like for example for the German Bundeswehr in §27 of the STVO.
