    Default CAI more aggressive?

Started a new French campaign at VH/VH.

In previous campaigns I've always negated the British threat by recruiting a bunch of militia and strung them out between Calais and Nantes so the entire coast is covered by their ZOCs and the Brits can't land.

This time the buggers didn't even sail in that direction - they loaded an army straight onto a fleet and landed it between Calais and Antwerp the very next move.

They then marched straight for Rheims and took it and were then reinforced by another stack landed at the same point.

So its still 1805 and effectively I'm screwed - my main army is in Bavaria and all I have is militia to defend Paris against two nearly full stacks with lots of British line, highlanders, KGL and 9-pounders.

The Russians and Austrians also seem to be a lot more aggressive - usually I can take Tyrol and leave a half stack there to back up the Bavarians and send the rest of my starting army south to conquer every province in Italy - but this time I've had to keep Napoleon commuting between Munich and Innsbruck as they alternately attack them.

I may need to abandon and restart at H/H...

British are unhistorical. They land in Normandia 200 years before the right time and how I hate that! My campaign is alright everytime, I'm battling at German lands, Italy but they always makes me return to France and defend my lands. I defeat one army after one but they still send more and more. I like to roleplay more, so this sucks. Sometimes I wish that they dont have ships like in SPQR total war. I have so many memories when they ruined my campaigns. So the thing is because of them I dont ever have change to take Vienna or Berlin, because everytime if they come to my lands 200 years earlier they just makes me mad and I close the game.

Just invade England. That was Napoleons plan in the first place anyway.

Yes, I know that was Napoleon plan. But I need to send some of my army to east because of Russia and Austria.

You do realise that its just a game and that there are countless historical inaccuracies?

If you look at my posts here I am as obsessive compulsive about history as anyone but I can play it without throwing my toys out of the pram....

And the Brits could have landed in France if they'd really wanted to - in fact they tried just that with their French emigre troops in the Revolutionary War as well as landing armies in what was French territory in Holland and Belgium much later in the wars.

The whole point about a sandbox game is that you are not following a historical script and that weird happens.

Not sure if it still works post patch but at VH/VH I successfully invaded England with a single stack led by Napoleon while leaving much smaller forces in Italy and Bavaria to support the Bavarians and Italians.

The rebellions can be a nightmare if you go straight for London first - but you can avoid that by landing in Ireland first and then liberate it and Scotland and Wales first.

As long as you've sent some cavalry to take Gibraltar you can then take London last and liberate rather than occupy it (and bribing them with Wales should persuade your new protectorate to declare war on all your other enemies).

In fact if Britain are going to be the biggest threat post-patch that's what I am going to do next campaign.
