Anyone notice that in battle, the Portuguese army speaks Polish? "Artyleria! Piechota elitarna! Kawaleria!" - fun sounds for me to hear since I'm Polish myself and I can roleplay that they're Polish exiles & all.

But seriously - there are 4 factions total here. Four. How hard was it to QA what they say?

Wow, that really really sucks. I think that there was a thread where some other Pole said that the Swedes or the Danes speak the wrong language. I think they said that the Danes were speaking Swedish or something...Wasn't everything good in Empire? Language-wise?? Why didn't they just try and copy over some of the languages from that?

I was gonna say, it doesn't really sound much like Portuguese...I mean they could have made them at least speak Spanish, it's somewhat close to Portuguese....or at least closer than Polish.....

I wonder if it could be another chapter in the 'wrong voices for units' department? I've also noticed that my Spansih line infantry in the peninsular campaign call themselves revolutionary guards.

For the Danes it started with MTW2 where all Danish units spoke russian.

We complained to CA and they responded,- so in ETW all the Danish units spoke Swedish!

I guess for the next DLC we will probably speak German...

I thought in M2TW everyone spoke English but with accents? Or in other countries did they just stick the wrong language in everything

I'd rather have them all speak with a broad australian accent.
    Makes for exciting general speeches.

    Well, yes and no.

Russian words like "Njet" and "Da" was used, - longer sentences was spoken in english with a heavy russian accent.

It didn't sound remotely Danish or Nordic,- more like Jeltsin after his first bottle of vodka

Ha nice story I can tell about portugese language. I was part of the weekly audience held by the pope in rome. Everything is said in many languages. Suddenly I heard a (to my ears) strange language. My friends and me thought that it was russian or an other slavic language. We laughed hard when we discovered that it was portugese

To your ears, indeed. Portuguese ranks third, behind English and Spanish, among European languages used around the world.

It sounds like a slavic language to me and many others, i don't see a problem that's not ignorant but unknowing.
I thought portugese would sound like spanish but sligthly different, never thought there would be such differences.
So better portugese speaking polish than spanish
