    Default Character Trait "Cheats"

Now before everyone starts shoving a pike down my throught, i want to say i have already played the game without cheats, and have no intention to use them, however, as a Beta Tester, I am obliged to test every aspect of the game.

So i decided to try all the cheats. Most worked, but the Character trait cheat didnt work, and I know thats a cheat alot of people like to use. Imagine the feeling of having your King & heir go on an epic killing spree, and get 6 command, management, and full influence; you thinking "Yeah, these guys will go down in my nations history" Next turn "WTF GOD **** it AHH @#$$&@, my King & heir have 2 command, 3 management, and 5 influence, (or worse in some scenarios) I hate you bad traits!!!!!" lolz, but this is true and has happened.

give_trait "Quintis Fabius Maximus" GoodCommander 3 doesn't work, and I've tried every variation under the sun. And before you ask, i did spell it right (maybe not in this post, but i did when i actually did the cheat.) Any look into the situation would be apreciated.

This is the only cheat i believe you can use, and still have a 'real' game if not abused. Me & probably the eagerly awaiting Roma Surrectum 2 players will find it frustrating to get this cheat to work

I will only comment on a purely technical matter.
The cheat you used, is not in fact a cheat.
The cheat is give_trait, goodcommander was just the name of the trait that gave command stars.
To make it work in RS, you'll need to know the name use for the different trait you want to give.

Much of the trait system in RS2 has been changed from what you may have seen in other mods or Vanilla. TBH, I don't care about cheats. Never use them except for testing. RTW has a difficult enough time being a challenge.

Well i know this, and it is a challege, believe me, but, how do you get it to work? I know this question will be flooded to you by people who are not satisfied with the traits they get for no reason. I conquered all of northern italy, and defeated hanibal with my faction leader, yet he is a "heartless rules" and "hated by the people" seriously, wtf? But is the 'trait cheat' possible?

Traits like 'heartless ruler' and 'hated by the people' are a mixture and use of the old and the new to produce a more realistic view of Leaders in general from this age. Your General can be the greatest general on earth when it comes to battles and strategy, but a total a-hole when it comes to ruling his subjects if he is the Warlord, King, Consul, or whatever. And these traits are gained based on a combination of triggers that look for things like proficiency in battle, personal life and behavior, and how he treats the people or taxes them. You may find that your leader is hated by the people, but loved by his troops. Or loved by his nobles, and despised by his troops and the people. There can be a lot of combinations of this that have 'some' effect on him personally, but moreso, a global effect on your faction if he is hated by all three groups, or liked by all three. It is a mechanism that RTW never had that can create a time great economic prosperity under a given ruler, or a time of hardship and depression.

That's nice, but if I want to see all the buildings in Rome, and I do process cq, he gets bad traits. I try everything (lower taxes, make games, ect.) but he is still a complete a-hole. I don't cheat btw, I wanted to see al the buildings. How can I make him loved? Lol

I know you are on vacation benson, but I found if I keep my taxes at normal or below, I usually have no problem with the people, along with a combination of entertainment buildings. When sacking a town, I bet depopulating the town will have a huge hit on the people's/soldier's views of the leader. As far as battles go, I think you need to win battles with few losses as possible. To get in cahoots with the Nobles however, I have no idea.

Bear in mind that this system was added to add a bit of 'reality' to the traits. A rose, by any other name, is still going to be a rose. A jerk, no matter what you do, is still going to be a jerk. If your faction leader is a drunk, a coward, a lecher, or any other variety of bad traits, there's no WAY you're going to make people like him. Consider historical characters like Caligula, Nero, etc. when you consider how this works. The idea isn't that you're going to reform your faction leader....the idea is that you're going to have to get rid of him, and carefully select a much better successor.

If you want to add stars to your general the correct trait is give_trait "..." "GoodCommander1" 3 and some other, which you can find in export_descr_traits.txt or sth like that...
I just like to own a Seleucid Alexander the Conqueror with full stars, managment and influenc Just for fun

So this begs a logical question:

Can you no longer gain stars (not sure what they're called) by winning your fights? I've never used this console command/cheat/wahtever because I usually end up with "starry-eyed" leaders just by winning battles.

Has this been changed? If so, how does it work now?

Edit: I just saw DVK's last post: "a rose by any other name ... " Nice.

I enjoy this part of RSI and its development in RSII. Bear in mind, RSII is NOT a strategy game - it's a roleplaying game. I think it's kind of fun to let the AI select your leader and then roleplay that out a bit. Get an jerk, play him like one. Turn up the taxes. Make the people hate him. Just becaue he took out Hannibal doesn't mean the everyone will love him. One of worst presidents America had was Grant (a true life drunkard) and he won the Civil War.

    Please call me Dani ... Yes, it's true ... I'm a girl ...

I give rep to people for being helpful, considerate, or clever. Ergo, you DO NOT have to rep me in return. Your being clever does not entitle me to rep. See?

Yes you can but they're harder to come by.
