    Default Massive Battles?

Now this mod is sick already without the massive battles but before I installed I read on one of the creators descriptions of the mod that there were 5,000 to 18,000 battles. Alas the most men I can get in one legion is roughly around 850. Even enemy armies tap out at 1,000ish. This is also all pre-marian so could that be the reason why?

    Thanks in advance!

Did you put your units size to huge? If you used the huge set up you will have around 3000 men per legion if you use mercenaries the amount of men will lie slightly higher.

With the huge settings your enemies will have roughly around the 4000 men.

I read on one of the creators descriptions of the mod that there were 5,000 to 18,000 battles
You won't get this amount of men in one legion but it is possible to fight around 5000 - 18000 men in one battle this means more then one army taking part in the battle. Keep a group of 3 legions together at all times fight an enemy army and you get like roughly 12000 men in one battle.

I hope this explains it a bit how things work.

Is this something in the actual files of the game? Or something I do on the main screen when I start a campaign?

Normally if you install SPQR settings should already be set to huge for you.

Hmmm, I didnt touch anything when I installed it, and the game works perfectly fine. Just each cohort of Hastati,Princeps,Triarii contain 45 men max each. Which is why the legions are under 900.

My opinion would be that you need a good dual-core processor to play with many soldiers. A powerful processor is what you need for large-scale battles - I doubt RAM has much influence in this area. A year and a half ago I upgraded my PC from 1GB to 4GBs (3.46 gigs recognised by my computer - I do not wish to upgrade to 64-bit). I saw no difference in performance in any of my TW games and mods. Now, my PC booted up lightning-fast, it never froze, and the regular programs ran much faster, but game performance seemed to be unaffected.

Then half a year ago I got a new processor, a dual-core, and all of my games began running much faster. Especially TW. By now, the only unupgraded parts on my PC is the sound and video cards (well, and technically the motherboard - but no one upgrades that - easier to buy/build a new PC). Meh, video cards are too expensive compared to processors, RAM, HDD, etc. As for sound cards - I am not an audiophile

tl;dr: to get the best performance out of TW, upgrade processor and video card. And get your RAM to at least 1-2 gigs.

RAM is cheap - I bought 4 gigs of DDR for ~$90 and my dual-core 2.4Ghz processor for ~$70. The newer your computer is, the cheaper the parts, as I noticed. So upgrade - unless you are a broke college student, or have no regular income.

Be prepared that big battles bring really HUGE requirements on the computer.

First, thanks to legionaru for telling my bonehead self where to change the settings lol. CZE, I tried the game on the huge settings and the battles were ridiculous, but I also couldnt have multiple legions march together in a battle...fighting Hannibal in southern Italy was shananigans at its finest. So I will take your word the game is meant to be played on the large scale lol.

Approved ) If u don't have at least..hmm.. 1,5-2 GB Ram I suggest you to play on large scale

No, game should ONLY be played on the largest scale possible. It is designed and balanced towards that. Trust me on that

Its not my word Derek. Check info by LT, the creator and you will see. Also, you can have multiple legions but in exchange for the game stability.

I am 17 . Where are you from? I am Russian, but live in US. Online shopping is cheap, and the shipping is negligible. But if you live in, say, Eastern Europe, things get more difficult of course...

No, you can have a good processor but crappy RAM/video card, and yes, it will do you good. But yes, 512MB is not enough. Still, the processor will make a difference. What processor do you have now?

RAM + video card is the key. Although since I upgraded, game is running faster.

That's 'cause you upgraded the video card .

RAM will not make a difference, unless you started out really low (less than 1 gig of RAM). Shoot, just read any article online. They will all (well, probably almost all, since you get a bad egg every now and then) say that RAM upgrades hardly makes a difference in gaming (again, I must stress that you need at least 1GB of RAM, so if you have 512MB, it does make a difference when you add more RAM).

Now, video card memory and the dedicated processor - that is what makes arguably the biggest difference in today's 3-D games. You need a graphics card with 1GB of memory and you will see an enormous difference in all games. Whereas, say upgrading a processor will noticeably affect only certain games - such as TW, which is heavy on CPU, and less so on the video card. On the other hand, my other favourite game, Mount and Blade, showed absolutely no improvement in performance after a CPU upgrade. M&B, Warband, Ogniem i Mieczem & all of the related mods of M&B are heavy on the graphics card, but not much on the CPU - unless you play really large battles.

Heh, Romania - I have lived in Moldova during the summers (my grandparents live there) and I have been to Northeastern Romania. I understand some Romanian, but not much, since I lived right by the Ukrainian border of Moldova, near Lipkani, and most of the villages there were Ukrainian.

Well, if you give me your PC model name, I may be able to find you a good, cheap processor. Hopefully the international shipping will not be too expensive, if you decide to but it. I doubt you will be able to find a similarly cheap graphics card though...

The computer I bought in 2006 (HP a1510n) - and which I still have - was pretty good, especially considering its price, but its weak point was its terrible integrated graphics card. Another words, it was a great computer, but not for gaming. And I still have not replaced the graphics card . I aim to do so this week. I am sick of low framerates in Mount and Blade - the castle sieges resemble MS PowerPoint more than a they do a proper game .

EDIT: Oops, two posts in a row... Well, my previous one I meant to post a long time ago, but then TW Center was down...

Sorry but I don't know how to find my PC model name.(anyway I don't have major problems..yet)
BTW:If you have M&B brought try "Sword of damocles" (really cool because you're the king and hire lords etc)
Sorry for this subject,I know, this is a TW forum.

If you open your case and look on the motherboard it will have its serial number thing there which you can use to find out about your motherboard, what processors it will handal, updates etc etc.
