I think due to the stat changes and such, all my replays are now ending up with different results... anybody else having the same problem?
In fact, NOTHING looks like it should- it looks like my men are being controlled by a cpu player.

Yea happens with every patch. Screws up the replays, since the data isn't the same.
This happens because of changes in unit stats between patches.
You can usually fix the replays:
- go into your install folder;
- find your latest patch<num>.pak
- rename to patch<num>.old
- restart TW
- watch replay
This way, the units in your replay have the same stats as you had when the replay was saved; if you have even older replays, you may have to rename several files.
Remember to restore the correct name again before playing or you'll be using the old versions for that too.

Respecto Patronum
it's in the data folder, right? I could only find .pack files, not .pak files.
That's what he meant.![]()

Yes, that's something new...introduced in Rome Total War.
It's the way these replays work: The game just records your moves and let's the AI play against them again. It does not record the movement of the AI. I never really understood why CA decided to make it that way. Why not record the player AND the AIs moves?
Anyway, the effect is that every little change in the game code changes the AI, too (and changes in the unit stats can for instance change the outcome of a fire-fight). That's why replays play out differently then before a patch. If you're unlucky a battle can even play differently in the recording then when you actually played it...but without a patch. I've witnessed this a few times. The AI makes decisions and sometimes these are made by chance. In the actual battle the AI decides to go left, but in the replay it goes right --> different outcome.
It's something you have to live with I'm afaid.![]()
