Performance Problems

Hello,

I recently upgraded my computer and am slightly dissapointed to find that Napoleon: Total War still chugs along heavily. Here's what I've got:

- 4GB 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM
- AMD Phenom II X4 965, 3.4 GHz
- Radeon HD 5770 (Napoleon: Total War came up as an example game during installation)

I'm not sure what's causing the bottleneck. Is it something I've got? Or is it the game itself?

What resolution are you playing at?

1680 x 1050. Various readouts say I'm using 60% of my RAM and only about 20% of my processing power though.

the problem is your gpu

I have a HD 5770 and I was having performance issues with what appeared to be lagging and stuttering like you. I found this on yahoo answers about someone who was having the same problem

He had updated his driver from 10.6 to 10.7 and started experiencing problems. I have 10.10 and thought maybe I'll install 10.6....and it fixed it right up.

I uninstalled CCC by following ATI's instructions here (I know it says "Graphics Drivers & Software" and has steps but there are videos at the bottom):

I then installed 10.6 from here

Thank you Berlot, I'll try downgrading to 10.6 as well. (Slightly different card, but similiar enough.)

I have a HD 5770 and I use the 10.5 drivers after having tested the 10.10, 10.9...

Moved this to NTW Tech help.

Does your motherboard and cpu support 1600mhz ram? Some don't.
