Many thanks Tex, finally I got the last piece of the puzzle!
+Rep as promised!![]()
Hi FairPrince, I'm done! I edited some wrong written names, deleted just 2 names that didn't exist both for me and the Wikipedia page and added both male names and female names! Hell Yeah!
Edit: I've been studying both Latin and Ancient Greek for five years, this is the fifth year, do you need help with some other names? I'd be glad to help!
Best of Luck for you and your submod!

Very nice work davsim, thanks!
I'll contact you about the surnames in pm, but until that, I'm sending you a big rep for your kind help.
Btw, there's both good and bad news regarding the mod: the bad is that I won't be able to finish it before the New Year (sorry folks, but more testing is needed), but to make up for the delay, I'm pleased to announce that the Final version will be save-game compatible with all SS 6.3 submods.
It'll be possible because I decided not to touch the original descr_strat.txt file, instead I'll add a few 'adjusted' names to my files that should ensure the much-needed compatibility.
I'll try to upload the new preview table tomorrow.
FP -excellent news on compatibility.
whilst full historical accuracy would be better, saving people from having to go through all their files to remove names no longer in the game will be much appreciated.
thought - with a new SS due soon - maybe give gracul the new names and see if he can mod relevant files so the new SS doesn't contain unhistorical names?
that way any mods based on that SS will have a stable name base
Actually, this won't harm the historical accuracy much, as I'll ensure the output names will appear properly (that's why I said 'adjusted' in my previous post). For example, I'll add Alfonso to the Aragonese names in descr_names.txt, but I'll put Alifonso next to it in names.txt, so it should appear correctly in the game.
I'll mark these adjustments in my files, and a 'clean' will also be made for other modders who may wish to use my mod in the future.
As for your other thought, gracul can of course include my files in the next SS release if he wants, it's only up to him.![]()
The latest preview is up in the first post, folks!![]()
There you go! Here's the file, I've added a few other common surnames, nice list though, totally errors free.
If there's something else I can help you with, ask away!
Good job mate, thanks again!![]()
Three more Cuman names. Because, you know, why not?
Oria
Qādir
Qāyir-Tūqū
Thanks princeps, I assume these are male names - they're always welcome!![]()
Any release date ;D?
LOL, asks a man who doesn't like teasing people...
Okay, let's be fair: I'm currently doing the 'adjustments' I mentioned a couple of posts ago, but unfortunately there is much more to be done than I first thought. When I finally complete this phase I'll release the final version.
As things stand now, it will occur before the end of this month.![]()
As you asked I checked the names (I added\changed only Venice, because I don't know a lot about Genoese dialect and names)
I'd like to add also Marc'Antonio in the names list, but I don't know how to write in the left column, as well as names finishing in ō,ā,ų,ė
Ok - hereīs the first one. Iīve added a small readme. Hopefully itīs ok that way i made it - and hopefully the excel/open office thing worked. Iīm focussing on the next one in a few minutes - will be up in 6 hours (or earlier - who knows)
Please let me know if anything went wrong.
Edit: Ok - hereīs the second one. Perhaps i messed it up - but thereīs a readme again.
Some names may look wrong nowadays - but they arenīt.

RockīnīRoll!
Okay, I checked the files, both of you did a great job! (+rep)
As for Fred's two versions, I chose to stick with the Medieval one (looks more authentic), and I really like it - hopefully the players will feel the same.![]()
Some good news on the next release: I was able to assemble the final files, and also did some tests with no CTDs. I'll continue to check it tomorrow, and if it goes well then I'll release a 3rd Beta version for SS 6.3 on Monday.
I admit, the work has took much more time than I first expected, but hopefully the community will like the result - that is what matters, after all!![]()
Good luck, I hope this receives the much deserved attendance on Monday!
Under the patronage of Emperor Maximinus Thrax
"Steps to be taken in case Russia should be forced out of war considered. Various movements [of ] troops to and from different fronts necessary to meeting possible contingencies discussed. Conference also weighed political, economic, and moral effect both upon Central and Allied powers under most unfavorable aspect from Allied point of view. General conclusions reached were necessity for adoption of purely defensive attitude on all secondary fronts and withdrawing surplus troops for duty on western front. By thus strengthening western front [those attending] believed Allies could hold until American forces arrive in numbers sufficient to gain ascendancy."
~General Pershing, report to Washington, 26 July 1917
Thanks, we will see!
I thought it'd be better if I release a 3rd Beta now and wait for SS 6.4 before going for the Final version, that way more bugs could be discovered while the mod is still in beta status.
No, not that much, but I can assure you that plenty of new names have been added!![]()
will there be OVER 9000 new names?!
