I've completed the table with Scottish Gaelic names at last. I tried to stick with the medieval Gaelic instead of the modern variant (wasn't easy at times), and added numerous new names and corrected the wrong ones in the process. Hopefully the players will enjoy the result!

The Scottish Gaelic table has been removed from the first post.

I've checked it, you did an excellent work on updating those names, it was certainly worth the wait.
    The rep goes right away.

Meanwhile, based on the suggestion of brennas I opted to use Aragonese language for Aragon in the game (instead of Catalan), as it's a more appropriate choice historically. Fortunately, he already had a full list of proper Aragonese names at his disposal which he also permitted me to use, so a huge thanks and a rep goes to him.
Character names in my historical mod (SSHCP) will also be changed accordingly.

Note: the Arabic table has been removed from the first post.

Here are the mongols. I basically just went through the index of my book about Kublai Khan and added all the mongol names. I also changed a few other things that were bothering me. I took out all the bynames that were like "Of Rus", "Of Annam" etc, since they make little sense and if we wanted to keep them we should have all the slavic, turkic, persian, georgian and burmese first names too!

    Here are Turkish and Kipchak
For the Seljuks I tried to make the spelling more uniform (sometimes they used the letter "j" and sometimes "c" because the letter "c" in Turkish is pronounced like "j".) For the most part I just tried to use modern Turkish spelling and spelling rules. I added a couple of names I thought were missing (though I was surprised to find my own name in there!).
It was hard for the bynames because it may have been trying to use the Persian ending "i" to mean "of somewhere" but they also sometimes used the Turkish "lı/li" ending, so I made most of those their Turkish equivalents:
    eg Vani becomes Vanlı
    Tebrizi becomes Tebrizli

For the Kipchaks I merely removed the persian/arabic names.

Okay, I've checked them, excellent work on both lists!
I owe you a great deal of gratitude for completing 3 tables in less than a day, so all I can say now is a huge THANKS for contributing to this project.

The Cuman and the Turkish table has been removed from the first post.

Only 4 languages to go now, then
How long will it take to release the mod after all the languages have been completed?

If all goes to plan, it should only take a couple of days. But first I'll have to receive the remaining files, not to mention that I also have to find someone here who knows Persian... Guess this will be harder than assembling the files at the end.

Now that I can finally give rep, +rep to you, Fair Prince, for your great work on making the characters more localized and historically correct.
Oh and, sadly, none of my friends know Persian, apparently :/

Ok, the Greek names are here..
Hope you like it this time..

"Steps to be taken in case Russia should be forced out of war considered. Various movements [of ] troops to and from different fronts necessary to meeting possible contingencies discussed. Meanwhile, I finally found a guy here who knows Persian and is also willing to help, so the project is now slowly but surely entering its final phrase...

Note: the Greek table has been removed from the second post.

Bit bored atm, so adding some more Norwegian names to the list now. Added about ten so far, I'll probably add a few dozen, maybe more.

Well, thanks for the new file, but honestly I liked your previous one better. It's not a coincidence that the names are vertically aligned in the original tables, as the final descr_names.txt and names.txt files also use that kind of layout - and I'll also have to stick to that when I'll assemble the final files. Your colored background is nice but totally unnecessary in this case, as this project is about the names, and not a design contest.

Btw, I forgot to say at the beginning that duplicates actually have a purpose, they influence the frequency of occurence of the given name - if it has more entries in the list, then newly spawned characters will have a higher chance to get that name.
I'll take care of this myself when it's my turn however, so those who help(ed) me with the files don't have care about it.

The main features of the new file is the 255 new names
Changing it back to a vertical format should be pretty easy (though I can't do that till tomorrow)
All or almost all of the Norwegian duplicates were just the same name, spelled wrong, so I assumed they were accidental.
And the main point of the new formatting was making it into tables, which makes it MUCH easier to re-sort it (sort by notes for example, and you'll easily see all the added names, as they're all noted as "added"
Anyway, if you haven't edited it back to a vertical layout by tomorrow, I'll do it then.
