In the Arn-series the concept is used all the time....

although, the form "af" isn't wrong, I was just unsure how common it was during the medieval ages. I know for sure that the "till" form was used during the 11th to 13th centuries. I chose not to have it in the compilation I made for Fair Prince for the reason that I was unsure. I think it is a latter form that came during the late medieval period (14th century) but I am not sure about that

Fair Prince told me it was ok

damn... forum rules prohibits me to use swedish, but I can explain it better for you in that langauge...
Well, you can always write some explanation in Swedish using the spoiler option, then at least the Swedish players will know what are you talking about.

Hi, you're the guy from my Guess the movie thread, right? (A little advertisement never hurts...)

I'm glad that you are enjoying the mod, I did my best to make it real. Hopefully you'll like my small but ambitious historical project too!

I would but I have MSC installed and I don't know if they would conflict.

No worries, the SSHCP text updates should not conflict with any other submods.
However, compatibility of the full historical project will be another question in the future.

Good news for Russian speaking (or learning) players: I altered the files a bit, so you can now choose between 3 different types of in-game Russian names:
    1. Semi-Cyrillic - e.g. Яosтislav (included as default in Beta 3)
    2. Non-Cyrillic - e.g. Rostislav
    3. Full Cyrillic - e.g. Ростислав

The change only affects the Kievan and Novgorodian character names.
The two new output files are available for download in the first post - installation should be pretty straightforward, just replace the existing names.txt file in the data/text folder and delete the names.txt.bin.strings file there.

I also added a new poll on the Cyrillic question, please vote if you decided to use the mod. Thanks!

I voted for the non-cyrillic version. That way i can read the names and call my generals or enemies the right way. Although full-cyrillic is a nice addition for those who can read cyrillic (like my wife - but she doesn´t play).

The semi cyrillic version version is quite confusing to read if you know russian.
I know the backwards R is a typical stereotyped russian letter but i find myself reading Rotislav as Yaotislav. This applies to other letters too.

Voted for non-cyrillic since I speak a latin or romance language and I'm not used to it.

I've just noticed that the vanilla SS 6.4 files contain some names that wasn't added to the latest SSNOP files, and as a result, I'm sorry to say, but save-game compatibility with ongoing campaigns cannot be guaranteed. Therefore, if you plan to use this mod, starting a new campaign is highly recommended.

Btw, thanks for the votes and the opinions on the Cyrillic matter!

A small update: looks like I won't be able to finish the Final version this month, so unfortunately I'll have to postpone its release until February.
On the other hand, I also got some good news to Greek players: I expect to receive a modern Greek translation this weekend, so players who prefer modern letters instead of ancient ones can soon enjoy the 'new' names.

Fair I spent 2 hours to make the Almoravid faction names, and historically the Almoravid as you all know ruled morocco and southern and central Spain for 50 years, it was a multi-ethnic empire, so the names reflect the ethnic and the tribal origines and even the home cities of the characters.

if this SSNOP is included in MSC 5.0.3, then it's ok to mention it here:

    {Motazz}Moʿtazz
this Moʿtazz cannot be displayed properly in my game. Instead, it writes Mo?tazz.

Yep, it's caused by SSNOP but I think this bug has now been solved in the 3rd Beta.
I'm not sure if Meneth has included the new release in the latest MSC, though.

hmm... so MSC got to 6.0. Yeah, unfortunately, I want to finish a game with some faction... For instance, I've been playing and replaying and replaying, etc. the Roman Empire for about 15 times. The greatest progress was until I conquered the Balkans and the modern Turkey. That's why I can't keep up with all that's coming new. Sorry for posting a bug that got fixed in the meantime.
And now I've had enough of conquering the same settlements over and over again, and starting from the beginning over and over again, if you ask me...
