    Badajoz!

So far I am really enjoying the new DLC campaign, but I was a tad disappointed when i got the Badajoz and found that although it had a large garrison, it had no defenses. I was hoping for at least a fort. Something I could punch a breach in and have my men storm. Oh well.

I've not got there yet but that's disappointing. That was a terrible siege. Perhaps Burgos is better defended.

me too., even hoping for special fort, they dedicated more than 20 types to S2TW, but can't even give us one special castle

And including British army going berserk in street town and raping women.....priceless

Agreed, I truly didn't understand why it wasn't fortified. Also, with San Sebastian as being only a small port. I don't really even recall seeing Ciudad Rodrigo so I guess none of the major siege battles are represented in it. Oh well.

I was wondering where Rodrick's city was.
    Ciudad means city right?

I've noticed some other problems. It doesn't spawn enough Gentleman. AI once again gives up on any Naval strategy after the first couple turns(Vs. France). Assassinating Generals is way too easy. Huge Spanish AI army in Sevilla sits and does nothing(Same with Portugal which should be playable).

Liberating regions rewards you with Guerrilla units leading to expensive upkeep. Who wants to be forced to disband unique units though when there is no gold to pay for them? At least have significantly lower upkeep for the Guerrilla units. Since the essence of the game is supposed to be liberating territories to Spanish control I feel this is a major flaw.

CA has once again acknowledged the total failure in implementing fortifications into the original game by not including them in this campaign. I don't mind when I recall the horrendous mechanics in sieges that shipped with the original Empire.

The Battle AI shows flashes of it's old dumb self but is significantly better. Overall I have found the campaign challenging and I have enjoyed the game.

Has anybody beaten this yet? I'm playing as the British right now.

i am really struggling to beat the campaign with the Spanish. Keep getting pushed back and just lost an entire army to 2 French stacks. Nice to see a good challenge!

C.A. thought they could slip one under your radar. How expensive could it be to hire a Portuguese voice actor for a session? Maybe they could have hire Christiano Renaldo to do it?

Yes im dissappointed there are no sieges in this especially at Badajoz, Zaragossa etc.. I know they were not great in Empire but CA have had ample time to improve on them so there most definitely should have been part of this expansion. Overall im enjoying the campaign as the Spanish though, there are some nice touches especially the unique guerilla/volunteer units in the various regions.

I have been playing as the Spanish and I've found it terribly easy. I have 3/4 of Spain now and have not fought one fight for a city. Every time I reach a French-held city, there are no units in it and they will surrender to me without a fight. I have had 3 or 4 good field battles, but the horrid AI just keeps blobbing and letting my artillery shred them.

I tried as the French, but after a few turns I didn't feel like monitoring all the rebellions. Maybe I'll have a go as the Brits.
I was surprised to see Wellington on a rampage on the north coast of Spain. He captured several regions and liberated them, placing them in my hands.
    Still playing Napoleon:TW

very odd. not even close to what i am seeing in my campaign. 3-4 french stacks roaming around retaking cities. i am now back to where i started as the Spanish. No blobbing yet. Weird.

personally i've already thrashed the peninsular campaign out after a week i find it a little insipid now. added a little bit of life back to the game for sure, but i think i will go back to the GC and start a campaign as Austria....would love another downloadable campaign tho...
