Salve, Curia.
I would most humbly like to propose johnwile for the medal of Opifex for his efforts on battle terrain and battle building scripts.
to be honest i do not understand much of what is going on behind these scripts, but tools to make new battle map terrain and buildings must surely be worthy of the Opifex medal.
so in his own words:

If you want you can nominate me, these is my knowledge:

1. Create new siege engine by scratch (animation+model+implementation in game) : exemple1
1.a Create the Python tool for .modelreferencepoint's files (my first experience in file investigation, thanks to Argantonio who help me): link
2. Create new unit animation with max's Biped tools : exemple2a exemple2b
3. I have created the Roman and Greek units model (texture by Rhyamo, but other units 80% Rhyamo 20% Myself, so the work is fifty-fifty)
4. Some important contribution to help Wilddog and Makayane's tool, exemple to teach the 3Dmatrix: exemple
5. Create MaxScripts to create by scratch new building but attention:
i only used the investigation work of Argantonio, Wilddog, Makayane KnightErrant...
6. i also know Maps, models, scripting, etc...

Ps: the Building Scripts are a beta version, i must add a lot of corrections, experiments, additions, test etc...
The WorldTerrain Script is very easy to utilize and is very easy to change the land, you can create ditches mountains etc....

I insisted to use MAXScript instead Python+Milkshape, is very easy buid the script, but a lot of people want Milkshape....

You must know that the Creative Assembly has used 3dStudio to build the Game, exemple in the siege-engine's txt there are a lot of residue of 3DPhysics simulation's parameters, exemple friction, mass, ecc... the same parameters of Reactor. Also the rotation matrix, in MaxScript it's the most important things used for elaborate objects, animation etc... but if you use Milkshape and Python you must write a lot of code: a great disadvantage.

I'm not very good at judging modding contributions, so can some members more informed on the whole modding sector confirm if these warrant an Opifex medal?

I'm not much more qualified to speak to this, most of it is over my head or at least I haven't bothered trying to come to terms with it. What I can say is that the more specialized and integral the knowledge, the less time need be spent for it to be counted as a major contribution. I expect the time put into these things isn't necessarily much higher than other disciplines, perhaps even lower since programming code is much more intuitive, but it's the results that count and achieving results that few others can is something to commend. Between the five of them(Argantonio, KnightErrant, wilddog, makanyane, johnwhile) we may finally have a definitive, all-access, accessible, well-documented means to modify the environments in M2 before M3 comes out.

So yeah, I'll support.

I imagine custom animations are very difficult to do (judging by the lack of them in TW mods) so anyone who makes them from scratch is a king in my book. I'm not sure if all that warrants an Opifex medal but I will support nonetheless since personally I enjoy the animations immensely.
