Can't see units on the battlefield (Shogun: Total War)

Now i know their are many threads on here about shogun not working on new machines and stuff but my think is different. I can play the game completly except the battles. Units jsut arent their i can click the cards and on the minimap i can see them and i can move them and on the minimap the dots move. Does anyoen know what i can possible do to get them to pop up again?

Specs
intel core i7-920 processor
nvidia gforce GTS 250
9GB ddr3 ram
Windows 7 home premium

well i think those ar ethe main ones anyways think i might be missing something.

I had this problem a few days ago; go to the video options menu and change to software mode.

yeah i think i read your thread, or someone similar >_> but that was for the units on the map and i did try software mode. unfortunatly to no avail

So i tried to play while invisible and everything works. my guys can be killed their guys can be killed but i dont know where anyone is i can click on people on the battle field by scrolling around and still give orders just no units...

What happened exactly when you tried software mode?

nothing at all. the background flickered tell i went to a new menu.

Software mode should work regardless. Which background flickered? If it's the menu background, alt+tab and then go back into the game, that should clear the flickering menu. Then try the battles again. If your men still do not appear in battle in software mode, then you may need to reinstall the game.

Yeah thats what i mean i went back and it didnt help except make the menu background flicker. I did re-install and it still didnt fix anything. man this sucks

Too right it sucks

Absolute disgrace and a ripoff that the game is still being sold in stores with virtually zero chance of being playable.

Alt+tab out of the game, bring up the task manager (ctrl+alt+del or ctrl+shift+esc) and right click on the shogun.exe/shogunw.exe/shogunm.exe and click "set affinity". Uncheck everything apart from "CPU0". Enter the game restart the/a battle again and see if that does it.

-Gah, just realised you had the same answer at the .org and it didn't work? Rather than trying to keep up with two threads I will follow the thread over there.

Wow thanks for the help guys. i made two threads for double the help. I honestly didnt know you guys would find the other thread <_< Oh and i seriously mean thanks for actually trying to put all your ideas together to help its truly awesome.
