Just heard that Shogun 2: Total War has been confirmed, not Rome 2:Total War as i would have hoped.

I was really annoyed. I started TW on Rome TW, and seeing a revamped Rome with all the benefits of Medieval 2, Empire and Napoleon put into a new game plus some newer features would have been great.

Now we have to wait for Shogun 2 to come out in 2012, then at least another 2 years before another TW main game comes out. Even then, it could not be Rome 2.

well i think S2 comes out in 11, but your right that the one after might not be rome, i've heard someone say they dont want to do two remakes in a row, which makes sense. Im kind of dissapointed its not rome, but at the same time we both never played the original shogun, and i've never played a game about the east, so it should all be good.

shogun was great. deserves refurnishing. RTW is still running perfectly well while most pc's wont even accept shogun or do horrible things with it. it was a good sequel choice and will give em time to get back in the melee feel after all their shooty adventures, and that might be good for rtw2. we shall see what S2 is made of.

I started with shogun but i feel the same as you it should be rome 2.Lets hope its the next game C.A knows its their ace in the hole.

There are plenty of good R:TW mods in development at the moment (RSII and RTR VII both come to mind). There are also a lot of very good RTW mods out there that cover a variety of historical settings and fantasy worlds. Not that this would make CA to decide to not do a R2:TW.

Shogun is the orignal TW title and cannot be use by a lot of PCs that are being used - I remember that an 8 series Nvidia card would cause problems with the game. M:TW (the second title in the TW series) has already been 're-released'.

The shame of it all is that the titles after M2:TW appear to e very hard to mod - not the skins but the maps etc.

i dont see the need for a new RTW tbh. old one is juuuust fine... Also brusilov since you are a beta tester for RS2, how are the sith members that are helping out on MP beta tests performing? PM me please.

Actually I am quite happy CA are doing STW2 before RTW2 - I'd rather a new improved game engine for Rome Total War 2 then recycled material with different skins from NTW & ETW - Although I will purchase STW2 as I never played the original.

I did play the original Shogun, & enjoyed it.

As I haven't missed one yet, despite disappointments along the way, I suppose I will probably buy it at some point, but I couldn't pretend to be particularly enthusiastic about it.

What I find most disappointing is that doing this has postponed Rome 2 not to the next project, but even further beyond that.

Whilst I have pre-ordered Empire & Napoeleon (via GAME who only charge when the item is dispatched!) it would take some pretty impressive marketing to make me pre-order this one!

RTW is still pretty much fine as it is, I'm playing it at the moment and see no reason for another one if it means getting rid of Shogun two, which I'm sure'll be totally badass. I can't make Shogun work on this PC, also, it's the oldest, so the most in need of updating.

I still play RTW and i'm happy with it. Doesn't need a revamp imo. An improved Shogun on the other hand sounds ing awesome!

Not me, I the only series I dont like is Shogun..its so boring. Napoleon, ect.. was pretty cool. But Ancient is the best.

You don't understand. I'm not talking about the time periods. I'm talking about the gameplay. Shogun and Med I had excellent atmosphere and gameplay.

The gameplay has been consistently disappointing ever since they went 3D. At least in Rome it was somewhat justified in that they had to programme a whole new graphics engine and all that it entails.
