    Default Betrayal?

While playing as the Romans, I allied with the Spartans, and financed their war against the Greeks & Macedonians. This was going well, the Spartans took over all adjacent territories, up to Athens and Thebes. After my Greek Invasion, I decided to buy Thebes from the Spartans. We were at high diplomatic relations; but as soon as that 1 undefended city came up, our alliance was in tatters. That eventually lead ti their demise, but, i would of loved to keep them alive, they just caused the murder of 3 Roman full stacks. I do like how troops go so quickly, it keeps you on your toes. But is there any way to code the game, like if i give them gifts, and trade, and allaince, they wont want to kill you 24/7? could you give them an anti-depressant? =P

The only solution would be forced diplomacy, which is built into RS2 if you want to use it.

I did not know forced diplomacy was built in, how does one use it? Can be very useful when the AI is being stupid.

Yeah, I'd like to know this so I can actually fight enemies in the correct places (yes, i use the money cheat, but only to bribe and restore the historical status-quo)!

No....RTW diplomacy is written to piss people off.
But seriously, it's Rome Total War, not 'Rome Total Niceness'. That's why I'm never nice to anyone when I play, because I know they will back stab me anyway.

I had a case when I played a quite long campaign in RS1.6 where I was allied with the Dacians. The Bosporans came down and took their capital...so I went over there like a good little ally....took the city back from the Bosporans, then tried to give it BACK to Dacia. This was their best city and capital, for corn's sake...and they refused!! So I just said screw them, razed it to the ground, and left with the cash. Idiots!

lol, the way i see it, there only my ally when i make them my client state. lol. I could suggest something, if you make a client state, wit will spawn a little army, and that would be that nations army, but you control it? I am no modder, and i think it might be hard, but it would add some kind of realisum since its its own 'state'. Also, whats with only being able to see the first 24 regions? When i want to destroy the client state document, i cant find it.

if you make a client state (the building) you get 10 or so units. Is that possible? Because its actually your "Client state" Also, sometimes the Client State "building" is gone, since you can only see the first 24 buildings. Can you fix that?

Unfortunately, RTW will only display so many buildings in a city.....the files that control that behavior are HEX files and can't be edited. I don't like it, but nothing can be done. I guess CA didn't think about the fact that they allowed 64 buildings trees in EDB, but no way for the UI to display them all. Pretty odd. So the only way to see what's built is to use the building browser, which I've found myself using more often since you can see everything.

Dont you mean Client/Allied state when playing as SPQR? iirc it gives a happiness bonus and tax reduction. You can also choose the annex the region instead, which I believe gives a tax bonus and happiness reduction.
