In ETW all I needed to replace was frontend2.bik with a identically renamed original frontend.bik. In NTW it seems not all the file contents are put in the one place, can anyone tell me what other files I need to replace.

I have not tested this but it should work.
Go to data/ui/frontendui/skins and extract the whole lot.
Now go to the place you extracted all the oringal files too and add a new folder named 'spanish_skin' so the path is the same as in patch4.pack (have a look there in the same place if you dont get what i mean (patch4/ui/frontendui/skins)).
Now just put all that in a mod and load it upand it should be back to vanilla. Here is how to make a mod
Thanks, this worked, I put the contents of the old skins folder in the spanish_skin folder, put the whole lot in a new mod pack and now I have a serene blue menu![]()
Good.![]()
1st can anyone tell if I can upload it here and how, (its 43 MB, or 233MB with the movies included) 2nd since the content is solely the result of Creative Assembly work, would it be legal and according to website rules?
Here is a tutorial if you want mod the files yourself.
1) Obtain Pack File Manager from here http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?p=7061780#post7061780
2) Open Pack File Manager and click open, navigate to your Steam/steamapps/common/napoleon total war/data file, select data.pack, once open click on the + by data.pack heading do the same to continue....> ui > frontend ui > skins. At that point right click on skins and choose export selected, click make new folder, name it "mod", click ok and files will extract.
3) Using Pack File Manager open patch4.pack from the same folder you opened data.pack, the file structure is similar so navigate to the "skins" heading the same way.
4) Right click skins and choose Extract Selected, since you kept File Manager open you wont need to navigate to the mod folder, just click ok.
5) Using windows navigate to steam/steam apps/common/napoleon total war/data/mod/ui/frontend ui/skins folder.
6) You should have in front of you the folder contents consisting of a spanish_skin folder and a few hundred tga files. Select all the tga files and move them to the spanish_skin folder, depending on windows version, it will prompt you that a number of files have the same name, tick the box for the same action for all conflicts, then click move and replace.
7) Go back to Pack File Manager which I hope you left open. Click on the option File, just next to Help, select New, scroll down in the box which is brought up to select the mod folder, click ok. Click on "choose a pack action" then "change pack type" and select mod. Right click on Unitled.pack heading and select "Add directory", navigate in the box to the mod folder and select it, click ok.
Finally select save as in Pack File Manager, with a name such as "MyMod.pack", save in the data folder of the game.
8) Next part is easy, using PFM open media.pack in your data folder, navigate as following media pack > movies > frontend.bik, after selecting frontend.bik extract the selected item to a new folder named modmedia, locate that folder in windows and rename frontend.bik to frontend2.bik. Now open your patch_media2.pack and navigate patch_media2.pack > movies > frontend2.bik, select frontend2.bik and right click, choose "replace file". Now save as modmedia.pack.
9) Make sure both MyMod.pack and modmedia.pack are in the data folder. Locate your scripts folder, for Vista this is User Folder/AppData/Roaming/The Creative Assembly/Napoleon/scripts show hidden folders must be enabled. Copy preference.script and paste to desktop, open the copy on desktop using a text editor and delete all contents, the add the following lines...
mod "MyMod.pack";
mod "modmeda.pack";
Don't alter the formatting as this is important, then save as user.scripts in the scripts folder.
10) Finally just start up Napoleon Total War![]()

so what about the old patch_media2.pack ? do you still have this pack inside your DATA ?8) Next part is easy, using PFM open media.pack in your data folder, navigate as following media pack > movies > frontend.bik, after selecting frontend.bik extract the selected item to a new folder named modmedia, locate that folder in windows and rename frontend.bik to frontend2.bik. Now open your patch_media2.pack and navigate patch_media2.pack > movies > frontend2.bik, select frontend2.bik and right click, choose "replace file". Now save as modmedia.pack.
patch_media2.pack is not altered since after you open it and later save as, you change the name to the name of your mod pack. Both mod packs you create in this process must have names different to any original pack in the game that CA put there.
Ill highlight the pack naming bits in bold to make it more clear.
thank you Gracchus but when I do all this the only thing that is blue is the buttons. is that how it is?
