The French were stupid enough to attack me while i was defending a bridge in S-France, the result is very clear![]()

Nice defensive lineup you made, nice formation. Shame about the stakes though, it's just not cricket!
Maybe come and try the latest version and see if you like the improvements (link in sig).
Then let's see who is stupid! You or the french! (Joking)
Seriously though, I think crossing assault and defence is improved. But stakes at choke points, or at all really, are an exploit, because the ai cannot really see them.
The only reason I gave so many units stakes is to allow more instances where the AI uses them against us players. Playing without stakes is definitely providing a better balance for me. It also frees us from static defence tactics that are basically more boring and less effective than rapid maneuvers. If you enjoy the gameplay involved in a contest then it's best to give the opponent advantages until he matches your level of ability to acheive. There isn't much satisfaction to be had beating a cripple, hmm painful analogy.
Anyway sorry for ranting about stakes and exploits. Cool pics, nice tactics![]()

In fact your right, ai doesnīt understand that sending in cavalry trough gates or here at bridges where i put stakes is just sacraficing his cavalry.
But in openfield battles i would like to keep my stakes
Is there anyway to have stakes in openfield battles BUT not be able to ībuildī them when defending bridges or citys?
It's nice to see a screenshot thread in the DLV forum (IDK if there was an older one, haven't been here that long). Nice shots Sir Wem.
As for stakes - why don't you just take them out of the game Taiji? If it is an unfair advantage in the sense that the AI can't detect them that really doesn't balance the battlefield in your BB mod. I surely wouldn't mind it.
I stopped using stakes at bridges and gates, now its more of a challenge to kill enemy generals and cavalry.
Example is this poor dude, the sole survivor of his squad
BUT
he killed a lot of horsies
After he rested he returned to fight enemy spears, with succes, al alone he managed to obtain 1 bronze chevron![]()
What a hero, wielding that two-hand sword with one hand holding a torch
There is a way I could prevent player access to stakes in those scenarios, but I don't really like taking things away which are optional like that. Players who don't want that advantage over the AI won't use it.
Actually in field battles sometimes the AI can see stakes. The player just needs to place troops near them and the AI will sometimes skillfully avoid them... But sometimes it just charges through them, for kicks it seems. It's so far impossible to make a BAI config in which stakes avoidance on the field is perfect.
