...In your experience? I can't check it out for myself because I uninstalled the game, and on Steam, that means I have to download the whole thing again.

The patch notes said something about various battle AI improvements, but didn't bother to specify. So I'm just wondering what it looks like to you who have the game?

Tried two customs battles yesterday. The artillery still shoots into hills ( and canon balls still don't kill at long range) and light infantry still does not use light infantry behaviour. Not shure of they removed suicidal attacks by cavalry, but I had a BAI light infantry unit running parallel to my line in the opening of the battle, which wasn't a smart move. So far I am wondering what these BAI changes are.

Those are bad news. Not at all unexpected, but still bad.

I had a few battles, playing as Spain. I was pleasantly surprised to see the AI march several line units forward IN LINE. I must note that the battles were not of large scale (full-stack armies) and the large scale battles was usually where the AI had the biggest problems before the patch. I have not noticed much else yet.

It uses line infantry better tho now, and generals do not suicide anymore. Apart from that, not sure tbh.

I can't confirm any of that. In my Prussian campaign, the French still rush their generals straight up the center of my artillery kill zone just as merrily as they always have.
I haven't noticed any improvement at all, the BAI still couldn't find its own ass with both hands and a flashlight.

Would you say the BAI you encountered those battles were better than before? I too have had the BAI marching units at me in a long line; it's when the actual shooting starts that everything usually turns to crap...

    Better how?

In my case, the AI kept the line in good formation even when the shooting started. Of course, by then, I had them out-flanked, so the end result was 'as expected'.

Other than that I have not noticed any ground-breaking BAI improvements yet. The AI cavalry still gets sacrificed (trying to bee-line for the player's artillery) early in the battle. As noted before, the AI artillery still shoots into the ground (if the ground happens to be in their line of fire). Need to play more to tell more conclusively if anything else (than holding the line occasionally) has been improved.

I had the BAI crash on me in Peninsular campaign. I put all my armed citizens inside buildings and the AI stopped functioning, the units just all stood there.

Pvt AIdan: They are with sneaking up on us!
Pvt AIken: Please be to stand very still, so human will not be of seeing us.

There is marginal improvement in keeping the lines moving forward. Cavalry is still suicidal. AI is less aggressive/ Artillery is still stupid. Mods are better at improving the AI.

Basically there is a lack of AI, and the only thing that makes the AI challenging, is the machine gun fire on VH, which weakens your ability to make a single army steamroll the map.

    Well, whoop-de-bloody-doo.

How about siege BAI? Anyone noticed any differences there?

There is a siege BAI? Do you mean the retarded thing putting units behind walls and just does nothing at all?

...Ah. So no changes there, then.

Well, seems that all in all there's no real point in bothering with a reinstall, then.

I've tried just 1 battle for a test, 1 inf vs inf. I was attacker. Pre-patch the defender (AI) was running at me. Now it was staying completely idle. I maneuvred&danced like 1 meter away from his range, but he did nothing...

Yes i had that too, tried a custom battle earlier one of the new maps and the AI didn't do anything so i manouvered my unit behind theirs and just shot them to pieces.
