Has anybody played longer? Does the French AI have some surprises up its sleeve?
they seem to get more strength as the campaign progresses. i had similar fears but now the the French are putting some serious pressure on me. and when i do take ground my losses are very heavy and i have to stop. its a real back and forth campaign. but yes, at the start the French are weak in the southern provinces.

The French have a slow start. I managed to take most of the southern regions easily, but now i'm supposed to take Madrid and the French have several half stacks in the area now they have also made the area pro French.
