Why Won't NTW Launch?

So I've downloaded the new update and whenever I click the game's icon on my desktop or Steam, it says "Launching Napoleon: Total War" for half a second then vanishes and the game never loads. I've tried verifying the game's cache but it still occurs. Help?

same thing here. i am re-installing.

i will lose my mods and might have to start again. i tried to stop the update but couldnt...i paused it but it wouldnt load.

maybe should have left if for a night or so.

so as my username suggests totalheadache! still i had a good crack and will wait for some mods maybe the peninsula camp and give that a go. hopefully after re-applying mods my savegames will still work.

Defrag cache files. The other alternative is going to the Applicatuion Data folder and finding NTW and delete it, and let steam re-download it. Corrupt dl? mods?

How do you defrag cache files?

New updates from CA are always incomptible with savegames and current mods.

Delete all mods and the scripts folder, and knowing Steam, verify your game cache.

That worked for me. Removed all mods and voila Playing Peninsula campaign wooho!

just download steam which is a little file, install it and try.

but it appears that the solution is to delete mods

If you have Napoleon Total Factions, uninstall it. I found out that was the problem by accident. So my problem's been resolved.

can u tell me how you did this? am manually deleted the ntf files/folders. after a re-install most of my mods are still there

i can load into a red title screen but there is no peninsula campaign present. i guess it hasnt downloaded even though i got a confirmation email...mmm

First use the uninstaller, then delete manually any folder named "NTF".

I;m having to re-install all together !!!

same here and no mods installed on my NapTW. Going to try to delete local content and redownload

My game wont launch since update and it says I dont have enough disk space!!!! I have 450GB free!!!! WTF!!!

I deleted local content, then re-installed it, deleted my napoleon folder in appdata, verified game cache, defrag content, and it is still crashing. So re-install steam?

install steam over.

deleting steam will erase all of your games

I just did that and still cannot work. Any other ideas? I had NER and the Royal Navy uniform mod installed.

Delete ALL mods and the scripts folder, and hopefully verifying your game cache solves the rest. Some are having to reinstall the game.
