Has anyone got any good kiting stories in NTW

Thread name says it all

i have recently been inundated with some excellent kiting stories in NTW games

illl post some of the special ones which are priceless

but please add and we can all laugh about one of the really lame strategies people use in NTW.

or make some suggestions about other lame strategies.

I once trashed a guy in a 1v1 only to have him run his general to one side of the map and a unit of lancers to the other, and simply run them away from me until the timer ran out.

Some choice words were traded, I must admit.

he is not talking about me by the way, and this is NOT what i do. i haven't drawn even 1 game (1 v 1, team games may be a different story) in NTW due to timer.

i have prolonged battles in the hope of my opponent making a mistake, sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't. they get their win either way, i just make them work for it.

When ever someone says either Kiting, Pro player, camper, noob , or grass smoker. You usually keep quoting it saying , "He's not talking to me by the way."

A member of my clan used to do kitting, i hate it i think it is a disgraceful way to play, he was swiftly told to stop it and doesnt anymore. I take great pleasure in destroying the people who use this tactic.

this post is not directed at anyone in particular, but to focus the discussion and get everyone on the same page, we have to ask some base questions.

so firstly, to those of you who have a problem with kiting, what is kiting exactly? once we get a good definition we can move the discussion forward.

i've got a good kiting story. sometimes for laughs when it's allowed in the rules i buy 12-16 long range and 3-5 heavy infantry, and 1 -0 cavalry. i deploy them in very thick lines, and i stack the lines like so (S)kirmishers, and (L)ine:

then against medium and weaker players i use "falling lines" to kill them and as they move forward they are simply exposed to new ranks of fire. However this build and tactic is not a serious one - it is not flexible enough to use in a real match or against good players. I have been using variations of this deployment since the 2nd week of ETW, when i did it with austrian 125 range units. other people came up with similar builds/deployments/and tactics independently of me at later times, but i was the first that i know of to employ such a strategy.

and I have referenced many of our battles to show how SUKessful kiting can be.

However I once played the AI where I kited for 2 hours before I could wear down the AI enough so I could finish him off. I was actually really surprised the AI didn’t rage quit like most people. Then it dawned on me - the AI was obviously cheating as I can’t think of any reason the AI would continue to play for two hours without quitting unless the AI was using some sort of hack to bore me to death to counter my boring tactics. So I quickly disabled the Norton Anti Kiting the AI managed to install and was victorious in my quest to be the greatest player ever.

On reviewing the replay I managed to noticed one of the AI’s routing units had recovered near the redline - so I’ve dedicate a whole chapter in the “The Art of Kiting” specifically on how the AI is in fact a cheater. Hopefully no one will challenge me to prove the AI is a cheater because I probably should have discussed it in the game if I actually thought the AI was redlining.

But I bet I could get away with posting it on the forums because I installed a foreign language pack and deleted English so I have no doubt the AI wouldn’t understand what I say and be therefore unable to defend themselves. Hmmm this might just work.

BTW I have since apologised to the AI on a toilet door in the park across the road – I just need to get a long power cable so I can take my pc down there so the AI can see my apology.

I recently faced a USSR member on his Hosted Match with his Rules: Max 2 Lancers, Max 4 100-125 Range , and No fixed.

He started to Kite when he noticed I was winning on one of his flanks but, he was so busy kiting his troops, that he forgot to watch the force I placed behind his Kiting army
