newbie help please

Hi All,
I posted this elsewhere on the forums, but have had no replies, can anyone answer.
Forgive me can i ask. I don't have internet at home i have to bring my base unit to work to get anything done, which is what i did with NTW.
I would really like to use the mods here but my past experience with IL2 1946 Sturmovik has put me off them.
What i wanted to ask basically, is it possible to put the mods on my pc without bringing my unit to work, ie to a usb stick then load it at home. I don't want to ruin my installation of NTW because of the hassle it would cause.
Plus, my pc is a dual core 2.4ghz hp e6600 with a 1gb nvidia card, and 4gb of memory. I have tried to run it on medium settings, but a lot of the uniforms are just white. Would it be better to have it on low settings but i like the ultra unit size. Could i still have ultra units on low. I have a program called game booster which i think helps.
Plus, would any of the mods affect the downloadable campaigns like the one due out this week.
Could anyone give an advice for a low end spec pc, like graphic settings, etc.

White uniforms are graphics. IF you have no internet access at home, how do you keep your computer up to date, especially Windows itself?

Ok, thanks. Basically, i bring my base unit into work, and they let me connect it to the net here. Though i don't do it very often,

Maybe your first foray into Steam and its offline mode, the DRM built into this thing is about a month in offline mode, it won't let you play, again, until you log back in. Without an internet connection where you live minimzes what you can do.

Answer about mods, no reason you can't download them to a usb sick and reload them at home.
