Man of Potential
I was wondering if anyone knew how to trigger a captain becoming a family member.... what does it take for a man of potential to become part of the family. I say this because I am killing off a lot of my family members by loading them in weak fleets and sinking them. I am trying to get new guys in there. I have over 90 settlements as Rome and only 3 family members left. I am trying to prepare for imperial reforms by getting better guys in there? What am I doing wrong that no one (beside the occasional marriage proposal) will be promoted to a general/family member?

Re: Man of Potential
First to say, a captain is only promoted after a battle IIRC. The harder the battle, the greater the victory, the more the odds were against him, the higher is the chance to get an offer. Keep in mind that, after my monitoring, the engine only makes one offer per turn, so if you already had a marriage/adoption offer, you won't get another this turn.
My advice would be to fight battles, with your ratio of FM's/region there must come offers.

Re: Man of Potential
Thank you very much. One more question if I may. I figured out what controls a family member to be Sharp/Charasmatic/Vigorous, but what makes him Selfish/Optimistic/Loyal (or any of the combinations)?

I'm sorry, not being involved in that development area, so all I can give you is Traits and Ancillaries Frequently Asked Questions.
Maybe a forum search can help you too, possible that there were similar questions.
