This is my first AAR so I am a bit nervous.
I hope that at least someone liked my story.

Also forgive my bad english and misspellings...
PS. Sorry for the logo, I think there is a bit too much free space.

PART 1
The journey begins

The long war is over. One of the greatest thing in the world has happened: the unification of
France, as king declared. King Philip...



...was so happy that he offered free beer and bread in some towns for citizens. The whole
kingdom was celebrating. People loved the king and the most important: The dark age of France
was over!

Thirteen years later, King Philip is sitting in one small but warm room. The room is full of very old
stuff and painting, whose age is just a mystery. But the room is not a warehouse as many may
think. It is a king’s favourite room where he spends a lot time with his councillor, Marcel de Gisors.

He is more a friend of the king than a councillor. They have been friends since childhood and
Marcel knows very well the king. That’s why king trusts so well him and wants to hear his opinion
of decisions.

It’s a very cold and rainy day when Marcel and Philip are sitting in the warm room and drinking
some wine.

Marcel: ‘This is very good wine! From Bordeaux I think.’

But Philip didn’t listen. He was focused to look at the painting where was a old warrior. Then he
asked still looking the painting: ‘Do you remember the old days when we were fighting for one
France?’

Marcel: ‘Oh, yes I remember’ he answered a little amazed.
Philip: ‘I am going to Middle-East.’
Marcel almost suffocated to his wine.
Philip: ‘Can you imagine all the riches of the East? Gold for us, food for people. And if we will conquer the Holy Land, even the pope loves us!’
Marcel: ‘Yes but we can’t go there! Hmm, how about England? We have to protect our borders against them. They can attack any time!’
Philip was laughing. ‘King Henry is a weak fool. He can’t even rule his own island! How he could be a threat for us?’
Marcel: ‘Well how about Spain and Germany? We all know that they would like to get some of our castles!’
Philip: ‘They have to save their own borders. They don’t have enough power to attack against us. And I have a solution for this: we could offer them an alliance. England will accept it for sure and so will all others too.’

Marcel looked suspiciously. ‘Alliance with them?’
Philip: ‘Yes. Keep your friends close, but enemies closer.’

Marcel looked more and more suspiciously. ‘But we don’t have money for this…’
Philip: ‘We can ask it from pope.’
Marcel: ‘From pope?! But he will never give anything!’
Philip: ‘This time he will. He is very greedy, always wants more money and power. So, I could offer them to him. A land from Holy Land! Of course if he gives some money.’

Marcel: ‘…But armament will take very long time. Easily many years.’
Philip: ‘That is true. But maybe it is better if I’ll tell something to you: I have started it a long time ago. What did you thought I was doing these years? I was building a navy, recruiting, building castles and making arms. And guess what, my armies are already ready! And I’ve made agreements with England, Spain, German and pope!’

After saying that, king was smiling but Marcel almost fell down from the chair.
Philip: ‘After I’ve conquered the east, France will have very good reputation and power so we can easily crush our enemies in Europe! I’ll send my son to lead the military campaign.’


So, month later king invited the armies to ports of Marseille.

The leader of all armies was Prince Louis
.


The commander of the first army was Raoul de Blois, a loyal friend of king and prince.



But the commander of the second army was Gaston Talvas, not very religious but very good commander and a old friend of Louis.



The honour of leading the third army was given to bald, young and loyal Laurent de Bellay.



But there wasn’t only military leaders but also a feared cardinal Lanfrank de Croy



And a brave merchant Germain Mauclerc.



Six companions. They were the Fellowship of the…I mean, the Defenders of Faith.

It's cool to see another french AAR.
I don't know if it is because of the world cup effect but France seems to be a prolific topic these times...

Anyway, good start. You are not losing time with starting a big big crusade. Nice.
Just a question: King Philippe don't go in crusade?

King Philip was eating with Marcel when a messenger brought a letter. Philip opened the letter and read…


Father,

The last days have been exhausting. But now our task in North Africa is over and a new power has
arisen!
First I sent Gaston Talvas to take the rebel settlement, Beleb el Abab, before the moors would take
it.

Now everything is going very well. Here, in the middle of sand, we are becoming richer and richer - we are making a good profit on slaves!

We are not only sitting here but also we are spreading the word of God to people and cardinal Lanfrank de Croy has built many churches.

Good job, I can only imagine what the Moors said when they saw hordes of French soldiers land nearby.

"Moorish guard 1: Allah is good today.

Moorish Guard 1: I finally captured the fish thief.
Moorish Guard 2: Really, the one from last week.
Moorish Guard 1: Yes, he was hard to catch that one.
Moorish Guard 2: I thought the captain said we should leave him a few days to hide so we DO have something to do before the weekend.
Moorish Guard 1: "sigh" Yeah, he did say that.
Moorish Guard 2: What are your plans today?
Moorish guard 1: Probably swimming. You?
Moorish Guard 2: Dont know yet, but will try to avoid my wife.
"both guard laughs"
Moorish Captain: Both of you, go to the walls NOW.
Sarcastic Moorish Guard 2: Are we to shoot the cactus again sir.
Moorish Captain: No you idiot,we are being invaded.
Sarcastic Moorish Guard 1: I heard there was a swarm of locust coming this way.
Moorish Captain: No, the FRENCH are here.
"Both Moorish Guards": Whats a "French"?

Minutes laters...

Dead Moorish Guard 1: wow, that was a hard day. I wonder why they hated us so.
Dead Moorish Guard 2:I dont know, but to me, it was the best day ever, at least I wont have to see my wife.
Dead Moorish Captain: Being stuck with those 2 will be my un-doing.
Both Dead Moorish Guards: Sir, your already dead.
Dead Moorish Captain: Thanks for reminding me, well at least our brethren will avenge our deaths and make the French suffer
Both Dead Moorish Guards: Actually...I think the war stopped as fast as it began.
Dead Moorish Captain: I hate my afterlife.
