    Default Crash on Campaign Load

Been doing an Armenia campaign around the year 1205 I'd say, everytime I load up either my hardsave or an autosave from that campaign I get an unspecified error crash everytime. Ill try loading it today but it didnt work all day yesterday even after restarts.

Have you changed something in your M2TW or BC installation (have you installed something new after saving those session)?

    Also, please, show your system.log.

probably has to do with the fourth crusade event, this and the mongol invasion event mess up the saves if you save a few turns before and after them

what can one do in order to prevent the problem?

and why do the crusaders appear as rebels?

Same problem here: Armenian campaign, year 1203. After switching to 1204, all my savegames are invalid. Loading one of those games shows a black screen with Medieval-Cursors, except for an "invisible message-box" in the center of the screen (identifiable by system cursors). Obviously there is an error-dialog, because hitting escape or enter causes the whole application to dissapear.

    My system.log is rather short:
    22:41:39.281 [system.rpt] [always] CPU: SSE2
    22:41:39.281 [system.rpt] [always] ==== system log start, build date: Jun 25 2007 version bld-medieval2-update2.1-30 (43169) ===
    22:41:39.281 [system.io] [always] mounted pack packs/data_0.pack
    22:41:39.281 [system.io] [always] mounted pack packs/data_1.pack
    22:41:39.281 [system.io] [always] mounted pack packs/data_2.pack
    22:41:39.281 [system.io] [always] mounted pack packs/data_3.pack
    22:41:39.281 [system.io] [always] mounted pack packs/data_4.pack
    22:41:39.281 [system.io] [always] mounted pack packs/localized.pack
22:42:07.375 [system.rpt] [error] Medieval 2: Total War hat einen unbestimmten Fehler entdeckt und wird jetzt beendet.
The error message from the last line means "... has detected a fatal error and will exit now". Nothing was changed recently before the error occured first. I have installed Medieval without any extensions and Update 3. BC is patched to v. 2.02.

@Berkut: Can you specify what you mean by "if you save a few turns before and after them". How many are a few? Is the problem avoidable by not saving around those events? Can the savegames be fixed somehow?

Find attached the last working and the first crashing savegame. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

That's a nicely played Armenian campaign, quomp.

Your CTD appears due to scripted Fourht Crusade. To be more precise, it's because of scripted siege of Constantinople that your saves after 1203 don't work.

Are you using latest BC 2.02 installer prepared by Sean Cappone?

There's a workaround you can apply: as long as those crusaders will be there, trying to conquer Constantinople, your saves will be corrupted. So, play all those turns without saving and without taking any crucial actions.

I think you can also try to kill those armies via console commands.

To check whether they are still there open the console by pressing "~" button and enter "toggle_fow". You will be able to see whole map without fog of war. As soon as they are gone, you can save safely.

    hi guys,

I could avoid the Ctd by attacking the crusaders and defeating them. I guess without the siege of Constantinople nothing can happen.
What about mongols? when and where will they appear? I will send a spy there or so in order to be abble to avoid saving during siege (of which city?). Is it a generall problem or just an Armenian/Georgian one?

    best,

    kin

It's good to read I can actually continue my Abbasid campaign, although I will have to let 45 minutes go. Feared I had to prematurely end my AAR again. And it went pretty nice anyway.

It may be also a problem with Mongols, as there were cases of CTD's during first stages of Mongolian invasion.

Nomads arrive sometime around 1219 and attack Samarqand and Bukhara (scripted sieges). So, when they get those cities, the script is terminated.

Either you give them those cities via console command (I think it's possible) or you wait until they conquer them.

I am now in ca. 1222. Mongols besiege Buchara and all saves work but when I click on the next turn button I get the CTD when AI computes the Kypchak faction. Even the last save works during which Mongols besieged Buchara. Confused.

Try few previous save games - replay 5-10 turns and see what happens.

If the year is 1210, then that's not the Mongols.

Could you give more details about your CTD?

As far as I know - no, unfortunately. You need to go back few turns and replay them.
