    Default Unit stats in RS2

    Will the unit stats in RS2 be somewhat reasonable, or will they
    be very high, like in RS1?

    What I mean is will every unit, even peasant-based units,
    have above 20 or 30 total defense, for example, or
    will they be more similar, to, for example, Europa Barbarorum
    in terms of stats, where only elite units have that much defense?

    The polybian cohorts for example have like 31-33 defence(if I remember correctly) and like 12 attack.

    Ah, that's not so bad.
    As long as the stats are not in the 70s
    for elites, like in RS1.

    No, they're much lower, which basically means that the effects of hard and very hard battles are much greater than for RS1. Slingers for example on the whole have something around 7 or so total defence

    That sounds about right.
    Will definitely have to give RSII a go when it's released.

    yes stats are important and need to be ballanced but I'm convinced the RS team has made better ones with their second go!

    Does this mean battles will be shorter?

    Since playing SPQR for RTW and Darthmod for MedII I find that I cannot stay interested in a campaign where battles do not drain my energy.

    Lower stats also mean that weapon and armor upgrades, as well as experience, makes a difference.

    WHen I was a beta tester,..sometimes I do observed that a big battle where the forces are evenly matched...lasts a bit longer.I fought a battle with Hannibal against Rome in southern Italy:I managed to rout all of his cavalry(thanks to my supirior ones),..but reamined with a very weak cavalry force with like 10 numidians, 20 sacred bands and like 15-15 iberian ones(large unit scale,not huge).They defended their rear with triariis so I could not use the cavalry,..and the battle reamined a infantry vs infantry battle,where I had the edge in numbers but not in quality.I won the battle with like 150-200 reamining soldiers.The battle was very long,because I had to kill every single roman apart from their cavalry which routed early.

    SO in all:there is a big possibility that you will fight battles that are very balanced and which will last long.

    as long as its not like SPQR where you have to fight like 10 battles a turn, i'm happy

    Select 1-turn recruitment, and you'll be fine. Some of us like fighting 20 battles a turn.
