ok, so some time back i tried to run medieval in a windowed mode by right clicking the shortcut, choosing Options (egenskaper) and changing the "normal" window to "minimized". I got some error so I figured it didnt work and I changed it back to normal. Now, whenever I try to play it I get a "unspecified error".
And tried to reinstall it, but to no awail.
HELP!

The link I provided gave you the info you need.

Try editing the "preferences.cfg" file in your M2 folder and add the following lines under the Video section:

windowed = true
battle_resolution = 1280 1024 (or whatever you choose)
campaign_resolution = 1280 1024 (same above)

That should do it for you. Good luck!

Not sure - I've never seen nor heard of that before. The numbers are the screen resolutions - setting them to "1" would be bad. You're running in 1280x1024. That's a fine resolution for the game and won't tax any system too much.

Tell you what - skip changing the campaign and battle resolutions. Keep them as is. Just add the "windowed" line that I provided and see if that does it for you. Good luck!

The bad news:
1. The graphics chipset is not made for 3d gaming.
2. CA says you need 128mb of memory dedicated to it in BIOS.
3. Dell has the BIOS locked so you can't change it.
4. Celeron cpus aren't made for this kind of processor power. They Pentium's little kin made cheap basically for laptops for power saving purposes.

Thing to try:
1. Install directx 9.0c manually from Microsoft's website. Download it to your desktop, and run setup as Administrator.
2. Install .Net framework 3.5 SP1. I don't know if Vista knows it even exists but like dx9, the game requires it.
3. Set your montir resolution as low as possible, plan on small units, no eyecandy, and I hope it works for you.

Okay, try this. If it gets redundant, please bear with me because I am going to be as specific as possible for me.
1. Uninstall the game starting with the Kingdoms campaign if you have them installed.
2. Go into Control Panel, classic look, folder Options, View, and click Unhide all Files and Folders.
3. Delete the Sega folders in Program Files and in %appdata%. Use the search function in Computer to help find the one in appdata.
4. Run a registry cleaner like Eusing Free Registry cleaner.
5. Disable the UAC.
6. Reboot.
7. Install in C:\Games.
