@ CA: Where is the uniform editor? Official request of TWZ at the official board

Good evening,
I feel free to give you as information the official request of TW-Zone about the missing uniform editor for Napoleon: Total War.

Good evening,

I will officially ask as staff member of one of the biggest TW-Fanboards (the German Totalwar-Zone) the developer Creative Assembly about the announced uniform-editor for Napoleon: Total War!

It is still announced at Steam when you take a general look on the text for the game and the contents and the last information about it was shortly before the release of the game at 25. February 2010 with the term that it will come soon after release.
Well, now it is soon 4 months after release of the game and we got 2 DLC's and an Addon campaign as DLC is still announced, also the next TW title is announced .... but about the uniform editor we have not get a single further information!
We got until now no information when the uniform will come or if the editor wll come at all, nor we got until now any information about the editor itself!

Dear guys of CA and especially by name Mr. O'Connel and Mr. Bridges, what is your definition at CA about the term "soon"?
I have really understanding about the fact that you are very busy, at least with E3 in L.A. and Shogun 2, but also my patience is limited and not infinite and my patience is much bigger as that of the majority of your core fan base!
I'm not telling any word about the $1.000 question about "full modding possibilities" here, I'm talking about a still announced content of the game that is still missing and not only missing itself, any, really any information about is still missing since nearly 4 months!

It would be more as kindly and in your own intrests when you move here in next time (and next time = not "CA's soon" please!) to give a serious and official statement from Creative Aseembly about the uniform editor!
Please note that this is no good point of informations policies until now and the anger about the missing content and more about missing any information is growing and is reasoned!

My hope to get an answer on it are low, very low and miracles happens rarely ... normally.
But it shall show you that there is not only at TWC the same anger about the missing uniform editor, a thing which is still announced as game content and until now not given and not only not given itself, also any single information about is still missing!

He lives over the street and his job are disputes in term of "Deutsche Bank vs. Siemens" and so on. Also I won 2 law disputes against the german state with him .... So no worries about this....

Great initiative Mandelus, if that does not work with them then I have no idea what else will.

I have also been waiting for this. It's annoying the crap out of me. Damn CA are probably sitting around twiddling their thumbs right now. It reminds me of Judy Verlin. She gives us all these promises that she will do as mayor and then she sits around doing none of them.

another empty CA promise, but plenty of cookie cutter DLC tho...

They have a big vat of TW Goo now that they just pour into molds... NEXT!!!!

Brigadier, nobody said they hated CA. They have delivered a great game. But failed on one promise that we are trying to ask about.
If somebody told you you would get free chips with your burger, would you ask if they forgot?

Well,
I'm still feeling old sometimes, at least when my apprentice wrote me an SMS on C-Phone and I didn't understand anything because using same shorts to tell me that he comes an hour later because subway problems.

However,
I will point out that my intention is that CA is making again and again the same mistakes of information policies! Feeding us at ETW with informations that were not always true during the stage of problems and not giving us answers about the questions told by the community ... only sometimes doing so. Remember too how many months were between the last info that they played MPC at ETW in internal testings and the announcement of the beta release of MPC .... beside the fact that not a beta stuff was annonced for the game.
Here again the same thing: announcing something during prerelease stage that was a reason too for some people to buy it, then a sorry about it comes soon / later after release and thats it until now ... totally silence!
CA can do better if they want. Remember the fast reaction about that hero unit stuff at Shogun 2 and the rumors about it, mostly negative way. Wooops! An official statement was given to set the theme in correct way. Why not here with the unit editor? Where is the problem not to so so?

I mean, in ETW they had a bunch of problems with the game to fix the crap inside, but do they have the same big problems in NTW that will hinder them to make announced = for many people promised contents in good time and to give them or even to give us some informations in interim? I don't think so that they are to busy to do so at least.

My dear Brigadier, I am sure that you are correct when you say that the guys at CA are splendid chaps and fine fellows, I don't think that that is the issue. However, they are making a frightful PR faux pas here by not managing the expectations of their customer base properly. Prior to NTW's launch, they announced, with full fanfare, that an Unit Editor would be released, shortly after its release - the assumption being one to two months (reasonable enough, eh! What! What!). I assume, by its non-appearance, that they have hit some technical snags, which are preventing its release. Now I am sure that we all appreciate that CA are at the cutting edge and in uncharted territory here, and things don't always go to plan. So why don't they say so? We are reasonable people (mostly!). Surely a, "Sorry guys, but we're still ironing out some unexpected issues!" would be much more effective than this stony silence. It's just not common sense, let alone good PR sense!

Under the circumstances, I think Mandelus' note is very reasonable and restrained.

I will only mention here that the bold made part is an excellent example for what happens at ETW. The majority was unpleased with AI, with missing naval landings for a long time, silly diplomacy and so on, but what happens during this stage from official CA side? Statements putting all in pink clouds of harmony!
Late, too late came the bloggs of Mike Simpson telling us the truth about the AI problems and the big question is, why didn't they make such a statement earlier, much earlier?
Sure some "honks" will always shout on CA for every bullpeep, but the majority would have a better understanding about it by knowing the truth told by CA and also the sell numbers would not be hurt really. Telling the truth in time is sometimes the better option then making pink clouds around problems as trivialisition and will give confidence to the customers and confidence is the base of trusting in the developer and this is making sells!
The result of such a bad thing made by CA is clear visible in the metascore of ETW in comparsion tio NTW, a metascore which makes the truth upside down. NTW is in stability and AI questions better than ETW in sum, but has lower official rating ... ask yourself about the "why" CA and if the reason could be find too in your information policies!

The problem is more the lack of any single information about this announced content for nearly 4 months now!

Agree with Mandelus; it doesn't seem that CA are putting their all into releasing this software that they have sold us. Now's a pretty good time to press them on the motive for delayed distribution.

I think C.A are the best Developers around, they are all friendly conscientious chaps, nothing is too much trouble for them, they listen intently to their fans concerns, and constantly visit these forums and answer as many questions as they possibly can all the time and all that.
As for their products well they are second to none, when they say are going to release a patch, then you can bet your bottom dollar they will deliver, I mean look at how many patches Empire had? there you go how committed is that?
Napoleon Total is the same, only we haven't had as many patches as Empire total War.
They said we would have balloons and we did? astonishing as it may seem balloons for heavens sake?
DLC... well its like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get until you open it, its like a little surprise isn't it? and keeps the excitement going... not knowing when we are to get it? oh no..... no confirmed dates is the ticket I would say, it keeps the fans on their toes eh?
Oh yes I am so pleased as punch me.... cant complain about anything, so I wont, and neither should anyone else really C.A are literally walking gods in the Gaming community, who are we mere mortals to question their method or validity in this life or the next even? certainly not I.
If the uniform editor isn't out yet there must be reason I think? I can think of no reason for anyone to be annoyed chaps.

I still have hope for a release. Eventually they shall release it. But still they will wait for some more months. I daresay somewhere end 2010. November or so.

Guys they are not going to release it so for get about it.

I think it's time for CA to communicate about this uniform editor. Too many months without any news...
