    Default Installation

I download it then install it but it doesn't appear in any folders. I know I've done something wrong but I've never got the hang of installing mods. Help please! Oh and I don't understand acronyms and jargon

Are you sure you installed it to the Medieval 2 folder where you originally installed Medieval 2? If you did, there should be a "broken_crescent" folder in there.

I install it to the Medieval 2: Total War folder, but it says that the installation was not fully complete. I checked the Medieval 2 folder and there is no "broken_crescent" folder in there.

That doesn't make any sense. You installed to the M2TW folder and got no results? Try re-downloading the installer from here and reinstalling to your M2TW folder. You might have accidently installed to the wrong folder or gotten a corrupted installer.

Nope, I definitely saved it to the Medieval 2 folder, but the installation doesn't complete properly. I click 'Install' and two seconds later it says something along the lines of 'Broken Crescent could not install completely, please try again' or 'the installer may be corrupt'.

I think you will have to download the package one more time, because it may be that it downloaded wrongly. Anyway - the installer works fine, I've reinstalled BC this week using it, and other people are using it too, so it's definitely checked.

I'm moving this thread to the Tech Help forum.

Okay, I'll try installing it again. I have tried about three times now though. Thanks.

No, no, it's about re-downloading the package. Because if it says that installer is corrupted it's only erratic download which can be the cause - in that case, download it again.

Yeah, but if I've installed it three times I must have downloaded it three times. Well maybe not but I did... I'm a noob if you haven't guessed already.

Okay, I just downloaded it for a fourth time, opened installer, clicked agree with terms etc etc, chose to install it into the Medieval 2 folder, but after a second of installing it says:

"Broken Crescent ver 2.02 has not been totally instaled because of the following reasons:

    Cannot create following file:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\bc.$$A

You will have to run this utility AGAIN to completely install Broken Crescent Total War ver 2.02."

Now I have to wait another hour to download it again just to get the same error message? This is over my head sorry.

Do you have Vista? If yes, and if you have User Account Control enabled there can be some problems with installing such software as mods.

In that case, install the game (M2TW and BC) on other partition (not on C:\), or at least not in Program Files directory. Remember to install both M2TW and BC by clicking with the right mouse button on the Setup and choosing "Run as Administrator".

Alternatively, you can disable User Account Control, but I've read recently that it's not recommended due to possible security issues. Also, last week I've installed both M2TW and BC by choosing "Run as Administrator" - and haven't experienced any problems with these games so far.

Thanks a lot. It seems to be installing correctly now, I chose to disable user accounts. One more question - can I enable it again once the mod is installed?
