Cannot determine language
I have heard this is a very common issue(thanks creative assembly, first i can't install your patches and now this) I have M2TW, and it is the original, unpatched version. This is because i could never manage to install any patches. I recently bought M2TW kingdoms, and when i try to install it, it says it can not determine the language for the game. Now im fairly sure they are both english
Can anyone help me?

Re: Cannot determine language
If I remember correctly when I had this problem i installed the patches for M2TW and then I could install Kingdoms.
Why, did you say, can't you update?

Re: Cannot determine language
I got the original at target lol, and ordered kingdoms off e-bay. But im pretty sure its in english as well.
But in response to first reply, i could never figure out how to patch the game. So if thats it, ill need to find out what im doing wrong in that aspect.

Re: Cannot determine language
IF Medieval2 is US, and the Kingdoms is US, for example, all you need to do is have a clean install of Medieval2 with no modding, and install Kingdoms. The Medieval2 patches are on the Kingdoms disc.

Re: Cannot determine language
I just installed the 1.02 and 1.03 patches from the medival 2 total war kingdoms files, so now original is patched up to 1.03.
But still the same error. And i don't think i have any mods whatsoever. How do you check what language the games are set on? Maybe the e-bay one is a different setting than the target one. Maybe the problem is that.

Re: Cannot determine language
Search the Kingdoms disc for the Kingdoms campaigns and run the setup.exe in each.

Re: Cannot determine language
Alright guys, it is not a game problem, i think it is a Vista problem. After i get all these errors, when i run the setup and it fails, it gives me the option to reinstall using reccomended settings(even though i never installed it in the first place). I just did that, and it installed everything perfectly.
Thanks for the help!

Re: Cannot determine language
Does anyone have any answers on how to solve this? I have the same problem. Both of my copies have the Union flag on the back of the case so I would assume they are both UK copies (not sure if that's relevant or not). My M2TW is not updated and it works fine but I can't install kingdoms.

Re: Cannot determine language
Do a clean install of Medieval2 and it should workIF both are the same language.
If all files don't match exactly when it tries updating it will get anal.
