Default Jane Eyre and summer reading

I've been assigned Jane Eyre for my English 12 AP summer reading assignment, but i'm dreading starting it. Has anyone here read it and have anything to say about it, hopefully positive? I read a few pages and I couldn't take it anymore, even after that.

^That. But it's really not that bad... It's quite interesting once it starts picking up speed.

Just read it. Get it done in a week and enjoy a full summer of reading about robots and space chippies.

Read fifty pages and then use Sparknotes. That's how I got through most of high school English averaging an A.

Don't use Sparknotes; it's truly an interesting novel and well worth the time it takes to read it.

'Interesting' and 'well worth the time' are entirely subjective, as I shouldn't take the trouble of pointing out. It's neither interesting nor worth the time.

To be honest, I found Tess of the Durbervilles to be far more interesting, only for the fact of the amount of crap the main protagonist had to go through before the book's end.
