    Default ai_db question

    Hi all. I'm trying to keep the random acts of war down when playing on VH/VH. What happens is random countries whose relations are "reasonable and "so-so" that don't border me and are across the map are blocking my ports randomly. They don't have ally's at war with me just random attacks. Here is what I am trying.

    IF GOOD RECIPROCAL STANDINGS, REDUCE INVADE PRIORITY
    -->
    <min_entry stance="Neutral" is_neighbour="false" target_human="true" difficulty="very_hard" faction_standing="-0.1"/>
    <max_entry stance="Neutral" is_neighbour="false" target_human="true" difficulty="very_hard"/>
    <faction_attitude invade_priority="-100" continue="false"/>
    </decision_entry>

    I have this in the catholic section of the INVADES IF NOT NEIGHBOUR. Am I on the right track or should I add it to the default AI params as well?? Or maybe a diff sectoin of the code. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Okay, the conditions you've set look fine to me. You can leave this is the catholic setting if you want, just make sure that the factions you want to apply this to have catholic as their ai in descr_strat. You could create a new ai either, again remember to reference in descr_strat.

    Another options would be to create a new ai label and apply it using a script, if the difficulty is such and such, give blah factions whatever ai.

    Still no success. I guess I could up the value or perhaps I should move the entire text to the part above "DECIDE WHO TO INVADE" rather than "INVADES IF NOT NEIGHBOR".

    Please update if you got any success! Those random blockades are indeed very annoying. Especially if it also causes other allies to break alliance with you.

    From what I remember in the file is that there are lines that say if you are very trustworthy there is a 85% or so of using defaults. The default is to not invade. You could probably add the same line 2 or 3 three times (easiest way is to just copy the whole entry and paste it a couple times underneath) after that one but change very trustworthy to reliable, very reliable, etc..., and change 85% or whatever it says to 100% for defaults. You'll see a line called RAND I think which if it is 85% it says 0.85. Chnage that to 1.0 to make it 100% chance of using defaults. That could work for you. I would also suggest copying the whole file first so if you make a mistake you can just paste the original file over the bad one.

    Haven't had time to look at it in a while. This is Savage's AI that I am looking into. The only rand in that I see in his file pertains to playing on VH where invade priority is 600 with a random percent of attack of 10%.
