Just a quicke question. It it caused by poor internet connection or your computer not being good enough. (my computer can play offline without lag or any of these problems)

Re: Multilayer Lag
It can be a combination of things. Basically if your comp can play the settings fine offline then it should be fine for online. A lot of people play with lower settings just to be on the safe side. Your computer is going to be working slightly harder if you're the host so you need a better internet connection including upload speed (this is paramount) and fast computer preferably. Finally ping can be a big factor. If you're hosting in for example Australia and 1 of your opponents is in Iceland then you're going to have problems. A central host is better than a host who is a long way from even 1 of the players involved.

Re: Multilayer Lag
ok so i'm assuming that most people are in the US or Uk so will me being in New Zealand make any difference??
Game is still laggy when my computer can run 4times the amount of people off-line so i guess that isnt the problem

Re: Multilayer Lag
I'm a Kiwi too and I can tell you from bitter experience that, unless you have a US host, games with UK players are fairly likely to lag. Its a ping thing. The bigger the game the worse it will be. 1 v 1 games might be ok.
As far as internet conection is concerned RO Citizen is to an extent right. In reality the only one who needs a decent internet connection is the host as there upload speed is very important. A lot of NZ ISP plans give you a decent download speed but put a sucky bottleneck on your upload speed. Should be good enough to host 1v1s and small 2v2s but far from ideal. Basically you will be need to be on a top dollar internet plan if you want to host big games. If you're joining others games anything better than dialup should be sufficient as long as the ping factor isn't too big.
