Daca Marcus Camillus o sa aiba timp sper sa termine RTRPE v1.7 si sa-l avem in week-end. v1.7 ar trebui sa fie versiunea finala. Momentan e cam aiurea. O parte din link-uri nu merg... Sa speram ca se rezolva.
Am o intrebare: ai idee cam cand o sa apara Hegemonia? Nu o data certa. Asa, daca ar fi sa ghicesti. Saptamani, luni.....
Mda, cam asa-i....ce nasol...

Ok, cum vrei tu. Oricum nu ti-am cerut o data, ci o perioada. Vroiam sa stiu daca o sa apara in viitorul apropiat sau undeva pe la anul.Originally Posted by Basileos Leandros I

Out of curiosity, how much Slavic vocabulary is Romanian? I was watching a video (http://break.com/index/how_to_get_point_across.html, very funny) and I noticed you guys use 'dah' for yes/right. I thought this was pretty odd, considering languages typically don't borrow such basic vocabulary from other tongues. Just thought it was interesting.

We have slavic influence being sorounded by slavic countries. Our base vocabulary is Latin 70%, 10 % remenants of the dacian vocabulary, and the rest of 20% from slavic, greek, turkish, hungarian, french and recently more in more english words, are part of our language. So about 5% of our vocabulary are of slavic origin.
One last question an I'm out: have you ever heard the name "Moisiu" in Romania before? I ask because that's the President of Albania's last name, and I've heard it's sort of common in Romania? It could just be a coincidence (Moisi is the Albanian version of 'Moses', and the -u is a definite article), but hey, you never know.

I dont realy know about Moisu as a family name never heard of it, bu I do know people who have Moise as the last name (this presides from Moses). Or Moishu could be family name in our country.

Actually it depends on how you look at it. In terms of total vocabulary, we have some 35% of Slavic origin. However in the so called main vocabulary (=1400 of the most used words, the so called "fondul principal de cuvinte"= the main word fund, in Romanian) those of Slavic origins are much less. The top 20 words used by the main Romanian poet for instance, doesn't contain any word of Slavic origin.Originally Posted by MikeRusso
The explanation for why there are only a few Slavic words used frequently even though they represent more than one third of the total vocabulary is most of those words are refering to Middle Age government functions or weapons or tools which, for good reason, went out of the current use today. But we do use "da" for "yes", just like the Bulgarians and the Russians. Also the most common word for wife is "nevasta" ("nevesti" in Russian means "fiancee") and I think that's the only other Slavic word often used besides "da".
