    Icon5 Byzantine units advice please

Playing as the Byzantines for the 1st time successfully (3rd attempt) Am using Retrofit mod with Grand unit Addon.

    Few questions about their units.

Which of the militia infantry should I have on the walls, the Pronia (sp?) look ideal because of their anti armor stat but would the later barracks inf be better?

Heavy cavalry, just can't decide which I want in my stack, all 3 of the top tier cav look great, which is best?

HAs, which to use and why, so much choice?

Alamoi(sp?) better over the dismounted Latinkon or not?

New this faction would be fun once I had managed to survive the 1st 50yrs

Alamanoi should be your infantry flanking force with their two-handed swords, while Latinkon are regular heavy infantry for long infantry battles. Pronoia is not really a militia unit, you can't train it in cities, you can't have it garissoned for free in cities, only in castles if the mod allows it. Byzantine Heavy Infantry is nice for defending walls, solid heavy infantry which you should be able to train in cities and garison for free.

As for HAs, you'll get Vardariotai, and when you get them you'll probably have the cash to pay for them, but they come pretty late in the game, so you'll have to go with Skythikon and Byzantine Cavalry, the latter the better one, but in the beginning Skythikon is good enough, with some mercenary Turkomans, in time the Skythi will get experience and you shouldn't disband them when you get access to Byzantine Cavalry, just mix them up.

Heavy cavalry, well, Kataphractoi are, huh, great Latinkon should be a little more mobile though, so a combination of the two would be nice. Hit them with the Kataphractoi first, then flank with Latinkon or Lancers for an easy rout.

And all the best in your campaign Be sure to get some Firethrowers if available.

Have you ever tried mods with unique Byzantine rosters?
For a start press my sig.
TGC in order to continue its development seak one or more desicated scripters to put our campaign scripts mess to an order plus to create new events and create the finall missing factions recruitment system. In return TGC will give permision to those that will help to use its material stepe by step. The result will be a fully released TGC plus many mods that will benefit TGC's material.
Despite the mod is dead does not mean that anyone can use its material
    read this to avoid misunderstandings.

IWTE tool master and world txt one like this, needed inorder to release TGC 1.0 official to help TWC to survive.
Adding MARKA HORSES in your mod and create new varietions of them. Tutorial RESTORED.

Thanks the advice, the Pronoia are available for me to recruit in cities with my current mod setup, also that cavalry unit that begins with the letter A() is also recruit-able.

Was enjoying a nice relaxed border war with Hungary but now my Egyptian alllies have stabbed me in the back, lucky I was prepared for it
