RTR6 Gold Installs But will not work

Hi

I Fired up my old rome total war game, and after i had some fun with it decided to grab this mod.
I patched the game up to date, V1.5 Then i installed the mod into the folder where the game and it's data exists ("C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War).
However, Every time i try to start it up, it launches with the mod (i know, because the launch screen is different) then i get an error message saying it has stopped working correctly.

I am running this on Vista home premium, and to date i have not had problems with the game itself. but the mod will not run. :/

Suggestions, answers?? Please help, this mod looks too good to really miss out on

ah, saw the thing about the manual patch that you have to use for gold edition, but the link took me to a fake site

RTR 6 Gold works with RTW v1.2. If you have RTW v1.5 you should try RTRPE. And you`ll probably gonna need a fresh game install for that if you`ve already overwritten your vanilla game with RTR 6 Gold and had made no backup previously.

But... It still doesnt work.
Deleted the files from the old mod, and uninstalled the game. reinstalled, patched, got Platinum mod, and now it loads to the menu's but crashes when i try to play a campaign or battle.
Sorry to be a pain, but what did i do wrong now?

You did not remove the map.rwm file. You`ve probably unchecked from the RTRPE installer the option to run the campaign_map_reset batch file. In which case you`ll need to run it manually. It should be in your main Rome - Total War folder and you should double click it. A black panel will appear briefly, after which you should try to start the game again.

I too have a problem with RTR 6 Gold edition. I patched to 1.2 and then install RTR, I get a launch screen, and then... then nothing.
Please help!!
