    Default [EU3] Exploration?

It's been a while since I last played EU3 and I'd like to ask, as I probably forgot' how do I explore terra incognita?
I sent my carracks to TI(just regular TI, not permanent TI) and It just doesn't let me.
So can anyone remind how do I explore?

You need an explorer as a commander of naval units and a conquistador as a commander of land units. They can be created the same way as generals if you have the "Quest for a New World" (or something similar, cant remember the exact name) National Idea.

You need an Explorer to explore sea, and a Conquistador to explore land. Explorers also have a chance of discovering coastal provinces if they move next to them depending on their manouvre. To hire these guys, you need QFTNW, but keep in mind they won't suddenly disappear if you don't have the idea. Similarly, many mods have events that grant these without the idea. In vanilla, i'm pretty sure Russia gets a decision to train a Conquistador simply so it can explore the uncolonised provinces in Asia.
