New laptop with Vista or 7?
You have to be logged in as administrator and have full admin rights to the Sega folder to edit.

    Hey KSI,
I'm doing just fine by the grace of the gods.
Anyways from the way it looks u don't have administrative rights to edit files. If it's a Drive C: then move the folder to another drive.
Or give administrative rights to your current user.

windows 7, i figured i am the admin since i am the only account.

i think i have full right cuz i can delete folders from in there and stuff.

and how can i check if possible and if i dont how can i give myself rights?

If the game is in program files that might give you a problem to edit.
You got to give yourself the ownership to the entire SEGA like irishron said in the above post.
Right click the SEGA folder and select properties then go to security and see whether you have full control or not if not then edit it and check the box for full control and then u are done

OK scratch that lets take a different path.
Go to computer management>Local users and groups>Users.
There you'll find administrator with a arrow pointing downwards.
Right click on the admin account and select properties. Under properties uncheck "Account is Disabled" option.
Then restart your Notebook and login as Administrator.
Then i think the problem will be solved.
In case it stills prevails while in the admin account uncheck read only from the properties of the entire folder SEGA.

    That's all i have got.
Hope this helps. Good Luck bro.

I have had the same problems with many games that I want to mod....

as Ishan says it's the UAC that is preventing savings... my advice is to right click on the data folder and choose settings...

change the read-only option so it is un-ticked (it usually isn't ticked but filled)...

then proceed to the security(?) or watchamacallit (I have a swedish W7 so I don't know the name for it in english) where you can see the different users for your computer (you MUST be logged in as admin for this)...

click on the button in the middle (in swedish it's "redigera" wich translates to edit, so I guess it should say that)...

now tick the top box in the second area (complete something or other... damn I hate it when I know what to do but don't know how to say it!!!) for all users... you change users in the first area...

when you tick the top box every other box should change... some of the users are already ticked and some should be ticked but unchangeble... when all users have all boxes ticked you can click on Apply

This will take some time, depending on you computer, but you should soon be able to save the text files... if the problem is still there you might want to try this guide with the one file you want to mod...

Sorry for the strange answer, but as I said... swedish W7...

Thanks man... Even if I am quite fluent in english, the names of buttons and commands may differ from the direct translations... Please feel free to edit och re-write what I wrote to make it more "englishy", so all can use it...

    and thanks for the rep!
