    Default Roman Charge Video

Just thought I would post this little video.

It certainly made me want to turn tail and run.

It would have been funny if they didn't stop in time. The crowd watching would go flying.

Too bad there aren't any roman reenactment groups around here.

I was there, at Xanten, with my own reenactment group. The legionairies you see are The Ermine Street Guard, the first/oldest Roman reenactment group of the UK. (http://www.erminestreetguard.co.uk/) A pity they all just copy, don't use several sources and just stick to what they mean is correct.. But still, they are one of the largest groups and can, this way, set up bigger drills and charges like this.

    Btw that is german.
    Vale,

Just checked out there website and had a look through some of the photos. The guy on the left in this one reminded me of the scene in the movie, 'Year One' where the skinny geeky actor out of the movie 'Superbad' complains that his helmet is too big. lol

I have just rewatched the video again, and realised how much the woman talking ruins the atmosphere.

As exposed as that centurions face was to the camera in the end that formation could be decapitated with a well placed fist.

Odd that banana peels was not more common as a battlefield weapon in ancient times.
