    Default New Roma Surrectum Campaign

Hello everybody, Im new to the forums as well as to this mod. Im trying to alot of research before I download and start a Roman campaign. I have extensive experience playing the Vanilla version as well as EB (EB more so and I have done very well if I must say so myself). Anyway I wanted to ask for any advise or insight that any of you all may be willing to share. Any and all info regarding gameplay, recruitment, economic development, tactics, game script, REFORMS (thats always a difficult one), turns per year, or just any wisdom you are willing to share with a new comer to this mod would be much appreciated. Thank you so much in advance.

no, just play, you'll have plenty of time for the campaign, and it will be a good practice for RS2.

From what ive seen of Rs2 and having played most previous incarnations of RS, none of the previous incarnations of RS even compare to what has been posted for RS2.

That sounds awesome. Do we have a time line of the release at all?

From what i understand its pretty much done, just a few remaining items to address. No release date (which with pretty much any mod there arent release dates given for obvious reasons)

As a developer I would say download RS 1.6a
It's a great game and would give you tens if not hundreds of hours of pure joy.

That RS 2 will be out rather soon doesn't justify you to miss 1.6a

Thanks. I am getting a brand new computer soon which is far more geared for gaming. I dont know the exact specs for RS, but i know i want to be able to have unit size huge and all the graphics juiced up as high as they can go. When i get it i will go ahead and download 1.6 and play while i wait for RS2. The only thing I dont think Im going to like about this mod is the 2 turns per year. I like to role play as much as possible, and with 2 turns per yr I feel like family members just age to fast to really get into it. Atleast thats how i felt about the vanilla version.

yes and to answer your questions, the recuritment system is 0-turn which mean tonnes of big battles, which carries over to battles and stratgies, and reforms you only need to build an imperial palace in terentum or patavium, and if you forget one of the buildings tells you

I wouldn't worry about the specks. RTW only uses one core so anything over that is just wasted. Well not entierly as it will run all your background stuff while your other core is concentrated on running RS bt what I am saying is you dont need a super computeror even a new computer(I am sure your current one is capable) to run RTW. RS is a great mod the DEV team made quiet a few changes from vanilla, one of the best things for me is the extended travelling distance of armies and ships, now every time I play any other mod I end up resenting it almost straight away because the shortness of walking distance just annoys the crap out of me. Anyway you will notice a fair bit of change, if you are a history buff you will get the right kick out of the legion system that the RS team have put into place.

Enjoy it my man I wish I have never played RS before so that I could do it just descover it now for the first time. Yo will love it!

Thanks bro. I will be downloading it in the near future and am already warning my family members, girl friend, and friends that i will be unreachable for atleast a few days. I was worried about the specs because I am currently playing EB on my girlfiends lap top, which is pretty new, and there are times it seems to move a little slow. I am not computer savy at all, so i figured it just did not have good enough requirments to run the massive battles i have read about in the RS mod. Thank you so much for your help.

EB runs slow(especially during AI turns) because it uses LOTS of scripts, which take time to process.

Yeh I use it a lot for Dragon Age and other games and it does make a difference. I am not saying it will turn your PC into a supercharged beast but it helps your computer to close unneeded background applications and concentrate on the game running. Give it a try it will not harm you

    Really I do reccomend this!
