has anyone gone back to playing empire after napoleon.

i've recently been playing abit of empire after playing napoleon alot these past few months. even though i still think rifles are well overpowered i really enjoyed going back and having the odd game. there also seems to be less idiots and cheats on there. so we can all guess where they have gone. dont get me wrong i still like napoleon but its refreshing to play empire again.
i think if they put the ranges of units of napoleon and the same rifle stats and perhaps speeded it up. empire would be one awesome game.
this is only my opinion. so wot do u guys think?...

I did one battle on Empire for the hell of it and I tried out a build that I would normally use in Napoleon and it rocked.

i've tried tactics which i use on napoleon, on empire and have done well using them but i've also come unstuck a few times where i have been to aggressive, like i am on napoleon. as i forget myself and didnt give rifles the respect they deserved...

The meat shield is so much more important in empire than ntw just because rifles have no counter ,and if anyone say what about cav i will go nuts.

Actually, the real counter to rifles are line infantry which will easily shoot them down in a firefight.
The cav are only needed to prevent kiting; as you say, using them to directly attack protected lights is suicide.

true,but the problem i found with taking out rifles with line is the first shot was so powerfull that your line was in no shape to take on the enemy line after

I like ETW much more than NTW. Unfortunately, NTW revolves around lancers and overpowered nations. There are aspects of NTW I like more, such as the way light infantry and rifles are balanced, and the way that I can put a formation of men anywhere (it will sort of auto fit your men where you want to if you're on). But other than that, I like ETW much better. There is a wider range of factions that can be used against eachother, I feel it is a bit slower and less arcadey, and overall there's not as many dumbasses in the game as there are in ETW.

What about cav ?

what about the line standing behind the rifles waiting to shoot the cav,the cav that dont rout the rifles because there in skirmish mode,spread out and not getting the deaths per second needed to rout.

damn it - no wonder my all cav build never worked

funny u should mention an all cav build in empire, termi. i came across an all dragoon build yesterday lol...

its not until u go back to playing empire that u actually really notice how over powered rifles are....

I tried, there's still a place in my heart for grenzers and martha But empire just feels so slow and uhrg. It also looks so arcadey / dated. I couldn't play it properly after NTW lol.

the ither day I played empire, and I found rifles to be a lot weaker then I remembered. I now play no rules in empire and regularly face 6-20 units of rifles. I've been beating them easily. I even take up to 10 unit's o cav, I have a total blast.

One major difference I found in ETW is that cav are overall much less effective. You can barely rout 1 unit, let alone 5-6 units of rifles. I don't even have to form square when cavalry charges my infantry head on, I just know that the cav will lose.
