    I can't recall if it was incorporated (haven't played RS in a while) or will be in the new version, but would it be possible to include a morale system? Say one of your generals has several minor defeats, their could be a trait of "Confident" where the army gauges the confidence in their leader.

    So after a few minor defeats maybe the morale would drop by a point or two and the trait would be "Faltering Confidence". If the general suffers a major defeat (75% or more of an army) the confidence will be lowered by 4 and and titled "Unconfident". If the general suffers several major defeats the army will be mutinous and (not sure if it could work but would be cool to have the army ignore orders) or severely reduce morale -8 (or more?). Alternatively, there would be a bonus to victories. After several minor victories the general would receive the trait "Respected" and given a bonus of 2 morale. In addition, major victories would receive "Fully Confident" and given +4 morale. After several major victories, receive "Legendary" and +8 morale.

    The only way to reset the morale to neutral would be to fully replenish the ranks and have the general recuperate in a city for two turns per level of negative attribute (so unconfident would take 4 turns etc). Increased morale traits would never go away (unless of course the general started to lose battles).

    Sorry for the long post, lets hear some feedback. I'm not sure how to go about creating this trait system but if someone can lead me in the right direction/willing to take on the project let me know.

    I think it could... seen smth similar in EB but not with morale...

    It can be done. There is a "TroopMorale" feature in the traits coding.

    Yeah, I think that the team should take quite a few leaves out of EB's book, they have some very interesting traits and things that make the game so much more realistic, and gives the game so much replay value, such as this confidence trait you have suggesed. That's why I switched from 1.5 to EB (though I can't see myself turning back to EB once version 2 comes out for Roma Surrectum )

    Can we get some mod/dev/beta tester feedback on this? I will learn how to do it if enough people like the idea.

    You don't necessarily have to learn from the ground up, knowledgeable people on the EB forum might gracefully give you a head start on how to to speed it up.

    Great idea BTW, generals nurturing is a highlight in EB although I'm having difficulties with it atm

    RS2 has some traits along these lines:

    3 levels of good commander giving morale boosts +/- command bonus
    2 levels of bad commander giving some opposite effects

    There are also some siege battle traits that affect morale and siege attack

    Also Brave, Coward, "Political General" and "Populist General" traits

    And then there are some faction/culture specific traits e.g. "Fears Barbarians"

    What are the triggers for these? Sounds very similar to my initial idea. Are they in the beta currently? If so I'd like to test them and play around with it to see how it works.

    The file you want to look at is the export_descr_character_traits.txt file

    I've got some dudes who have the trait "Fears High Walls" in RS II, really weird.... but this system is sort of incorporated, but a little more subtle, with traits who don't actually say: "+4 Moral" or "-6 morale".
