Default Accurate Regions Submod 3.5 for SS6.2.4 (Early Era)

    ACCURATE REGIONS SUBMOD 3.5

    INTRODUCTION:

The objetive of this mod is to take a stricter historical point of view in the Early Era Campaign. To achieve this, the regions of the campign map has been deeply modified to look more historical. My main historical map of reference was this, that's why the starting year is now 1100 AD (The year of the First Crusade). A few of Faction Changes have been made too.

    REQUISITES:

    - Stainless Steel 6.2.4 (June actualization)

    MAIN FEATURES
    :

    1.- MAP

Check the modified new map: http://h.imagehost.org/view/0817/1100AD
(yes, a lot of work... but cool, isn't it? )

    Screenshots: making them!

    2.- FACTIONS

    New ones (Early Era Campaign):

    - The Great Selguq Empire (instead of Ireland)

    - Kingdom of Jerusalem (from the Late Era Campaign)

    Renamed Factions:

    - The Moors ---> The Almoravid Empire
    - Order of the Knights Templar ---> Principality of Antioch
    - Seljuk Sultanate ---> Sultanate of Rûm
    - Kwarezm --> Abbasid Caliphate

    Screenshots: making them!

    3. - SUBMODS INCLUDED

    - King Sama's Abbasid Caliphate Mod
    - Master Zuma's Stone Fortress Gold for SS6.1

    Screenshots: making them!

    KNOWN UNHISTORICAL ISSUES

    - Lisbon is Portuguese (It was conquered in 1147 by Alfonso I of Portugal). Reasons: IA Gameplay.
    - Naples is Sicilian (It was conquered in 1137 by Roger II of Sicily). Reason: prevents Pope to conquer southern Italy.
    - Almost all royal families are historical. But, the heir is always a son. (very unhistorical). Reason: Family Magnagement Gameplay.

    SPECIAL THANKS
    :

    - For King Sama and his mod. A lot of work reduced thanks to his Abbassid Caliphate Mod
    - For Master Zuma giving me permission to include his Stone Fortress Mod.
    - To The Stainless Steel Team. Without their work this mod wouldn't have been inspired and existed.

    DOWNLOAD:

    Megaupload: 85.81 MB

    INSTALLING INSTRUCTIONS:

    0º- Backup!

1º- Extract and Overwrite Stainless Steel data folder.

2º- If you want to see the SS real faction symbols in Campign map delete/rename the next files: ".../Stainless_Steel_6/data/banners/symbolsX.tga.dds" where X is a number between 1 and 10 (included both). Don't delete the symbolsX.tga! That are the good ones. If you don't do it you will have probably a cute CTD

    3º- Delete the file map.rmw in /Stainless_Steel_6/data/world/maps/base

    4º- Have fun!

    ADVISES:

    Backup you files first!
You old save files will not work with the mod

    LOG:

    CHANGES v3.5

    - United Kindom, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Steppes, Baltic and Caucasian regions fixed.
    - Son boundaries changed in Italy.
    - All factions have a blood related heir.
    - Names of Abbasid Calipahte and The Great Seljuq Empire swapped.
    - I believe that the Great Seljuqs don't speak scottish anymore (My game is in spanish so i can't really now)
    - Minor bugs.

Comments and sugestions below here. Have fun!

This looks interesting (though I play RR/RC and can't use it). Did you just rename regions and change their borders, or also changed ownership and settlements?

it will be interesting to see what you make of the SS6.3 map.

(no ireland or knights templar for a start - and a few region changes.)

the map you reference has no khwarezm empire but a large seljuk one (not seljuk of rum.)

there is talk of adding an abbasid faction but not in SS6.3.
I'm thinking maybe khwarezm need reducing down to a three or four regions?)

    Salamanca - part of L+C in 1100?
Saragossa - rebel islamic region (not captured by Murabitim until 1110, but then lost in 1118 to Alfonso of Aragon.

I'd be inclined to make Inverness (Scotland ) rebel too as it includes large areas under the control of Norway / the Lords of the isles, Moray and others in 1100.

True. The wikipedia says that the date of the founding of the empire is uncertain. But it seems that in 1077 there was something. although I don't call that an empire. I think you are right. Maybe two or tree provinces should be more than enough.

there is talk of adding an abbasid faction but not in SS6.3.

My votes goes for Zyrid Emirate (Tunisia muslims) and the abbasids.

Salamanca and its sorroundings were resettled in 939 by christians. I don't care anyway. I change the Salamanca province for a Taifa of Seville/Seville province, and created a Kingdom of Galicia/Compostela (Santiago de) province too (Oporto province is the County of Portugal now).

With Saragossa you are totally right, but I have to add a province in the mountains to put Aragon there (and there is a max) . I decided to give them Saragossa and Barcelona... cause the Almoravid Empire is really strong with 6 provinces in the peninsula. Mmmmm... I think i'm gona take an Ireland province

Thanks for the map. I guess I have to give Lisbon to the Almoravid Empire. Nevertheless your map is somehow inaccurate. Huesca were conquered at 1095, The Taifa of Zaragoza was independent and Valencia too, Tunisia and Lybia regions are wrong, Pisa was independent,etc...

"...La nota distintiva de las décadas siguientes fue la ampliación territorial. Pedro I (1094 - 1104) consiguió hacerse con Huesca (1096) y Barbastro (1100), con sus respectivas comarcas, y empezar a amenazar a Zaragoza (fortificación de obra de Alfonso I (1104 - 1134) la que hay que destacar. Ejea, Tauste, Tamarite y Litera fueron conquistas necesarias y previas a la toma de la capital taifal. ..."

Well, If you look the map_regions.tga file in the rar file, and the one of Stainless Steel you should tell the difference. Look for for example Leon_Province. The new one includes the Salamanca province.

... did you delete by the way the map.rwm file in Medieval II Total War\mods\Stainless_Steel_6\data\world\maps\base folder?

PS: here are the two maps together.

    http://h.imagehost.org/0961/maps.jpg

    Look Spain, France and Germany.

Oh ok. I was hoping for altered Balkan and Anatolian provinces since I'm a big Byzantine player. Do you need advice on which would be better?

wow, just had a few hours of playtesting, and I really like it. I have the feeling that modified regions and locations of cities make for a better strategic gameplay and fixing the Templars was a good move. Apparently their faction traits such as Grandmaster or Marshall are still unmodified but I can fix them on my own ( I think. )

    Good job, you get rep.

Will test this tomorrow. In the meantime, how about posting an image of your edited descr_regions.tga and the original SS one, so we can see the modifications that have been made?

    Glad you like it
I enjoy playing in historical accurate regions.

About the trait, I have tried deleting the Grandmaster trait but I didn't find the trigger (the one I found had ";" before each line), and i didn't want the game crash... I think I'm gonna look for it at the /data/text/ folder. This problem will be resolved in the next version ( I hope )
